That is probably the best review of the new pump I have seen on youtube so far.

No worries Fraser. Think it is Definatley good to be able to get higher pressure so a big plus in terms of that. Glad it was useful.

As an owner of a 2019 LightweightH6LXBrompton, its titanium backframe had "weight-saved" the small piece of wire for holding the pump! So when I found out from the small "Brilliant Bike" made films they had got the new Chinese Lezyne pump, now named "Brompton" on its box, I ordered one, for being able to bring it during travels. At home I use a large pump with two wings for the feet and an oldtimer wooden handle for pumping it up to what is asked for in the manual (Stonehard) as it gives a lighter ride, that feels a little like an ordinary bike! Yes I think that the small piece of metal to hold the old stye pump on must have saved at least 10 grams! I do prefer the new pump though. Much more stable, doesn't mark the frame and looks like it will last longer as well. 👍😀

I broke my original pump and bought a (Xiaomi MI Portable Battery Pump style) battery powered pump which does a great job for home but I feel 'vulnerable' if I go for a long cycle. I have just ordered the new version thanks for popping up in my feed.

Great video. I’ve actually been trying to fit the mount to my Brompton this evening and embarrassingly I’m struggling with it. For some reason, the hex screws are simply not catching the other side of the bracket when I’m fastening them. Off the bike they catch fine, but on the bike they just keep spinning. Any suggestions?
@CycleEveryday2 жыл бұрын
I had some of the same on one of the brackets. I think holding them tighter together and a bit more force did the trick on mine. 👍

The new pump is hard to attach between the extender tube and the pump itself. The track appears slanted and resulted in loose attachment which dispatches upon pumping.

Hi Edmund. Not had that issue on mine and had to use it a couple of times the past few weeks. Bit of a strange one. Maybe a defect on the pump?

You have to wonder why the original pump was mounted upside down, it was bound to collect rain , muck etc and fail. The designer should have a pump inserted up his jacksie.
@CycleEveryday2 жыл бұрын
Good point Bob. When you compare the new mounting to the old it makes you wonder. I suppose looking at the design though it was the only way they could get a pump to fit though based on pumps around at the time. Will be interested to see how long this one lasts against the elements though 👍

I’m looking at getting a Brompton but not sure what handlebars to get. I’m around 5’11. Split between m and h.
@CycleEveryday2 жыл бұрын
Think maybe the m might be good as I have these ones on mine. Best thing to do is to have a test ride on both though and see which is the most comfortable for you 👍

I'm dumbfounded that the best collaboration between Lezyne and Brompton resulted in a standard pump with a Brompton logo. Having to fasten with plastic mounts next to perfectly functional brazed frame mounts is criminal. Surely they could produce a new efficient, modern pump in the same form factor as the old one. Not taking the opportunity to build in a CO2 cannister function is also short sighted.
@CycleEveryday2 жыл бұрын
The only problem is that the older bikes don’t have the brazed mounts, and the new bikes are designed without them as well, so this pump fits all Brompton’s. Not a huge fan of the old pump mounts as it moves around and marks the frame compared to this one. 👍

I've not fitted the new brompton lezine pump yet as I'm using the lezine hp micro floor pump with pressure gauge so I know the pressure
@CycleEveryday2 жыл бұрын
Pressure gauge would be even better on the bike pump on the frame. I like to know the pressure as well. At least I know this one will get to around 90psi after a couple of minutes of pumping it up though 👍

Must have some immaculate local roads if you're running your tyres at 90+ PSI!
@CycleEveryday2 жыл бұрын
The roads here are pretty bad. I actually run my tyres at 110psi but happy if the emergency pump will get them to plus 90psi
@Geshmaal2 жыл бұрын
@@CycleEveryday I know the Brompton tyres say "up to 110 PSI" but I'd really consider going lower, on poor surfaces it will reduce your rolling resistance and increase overall comfort!
@CycleEveryday2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I have tried lower on the Brompton but personally prefer the higher pressure. Notice a huge difference when it’s below 90psi though. Just prefer the higher pressure generally on these tyres. Only really go down to 80-90psi in the winter when it’s icy or snowing 👍
@sandydennylives13922 жыл бұрын
@@CycleEveryday So it won't go over 95 psi? No thanks. Plus it's the same cost or more of a Joe Blow track pump.
@tomnewman6760 Жыл бұрын
I'm not convinced. It's to easy to cross thread the adapter and tge screw threads are fiddly. A lot of money for something not very effective, disappointing
