Excellent points on the Tribest vs the Kuvings (separate vacuum function and 118 degree sensor); but what I like most about the Kuvings is that it has not 1, but 2 removable backflow stops to prevent the contents from messing up the vacuum. Tribest really needs this feature in order to keep from having to constantly wipe down and make sure the backflow of contents doesn't interfere with staying under vacuum. Usually a problem on blending a second time or more. Also, Kuvings is a lot easier to clean with a lot less parts on the lid; and it is more quiet with the dome cover. Personally, I prefer the Kuvings because I don't really fear the built-in vacuum going out and find it more convenient. Tribest has a larger carafe however, but Kuvings comes with a tumbler so you're ready for another blend. I also have to mention the better, stronger handle on the Kuvings carafe and more durable lid. Kuvings seems to be worthy of the higher price point. Kudos to Tribest though for the significant improvements; it now really only needs a backflow preventer. All that said, both are great blenders and are certainly the top 2 vacuum benders on the market.

Nice video as usual John, but you forgot to come back to the blended apples. They actually both looked pretty brown towards the end, would love to hear your take on that part.

I did notice that both browned evenly. I can only explain this by the apples that I used were already damaged (bruised) and I put them in BOTH blenders to do this test. So the even under vacuum, the enzymes that caused the browning were mixxed in, and the Vacuum blending was not enough to reverse this damage that had already occured. That being said, if the apples WEREN'T bruised in the first place, there would NOT have been the browning enzyme created to turn the apples brown in the mixture. I hope to test this hypothisis in the future at some point.

ONE QUESTION = The tribest vacuum blender blended apple smoothie got dark as the vitamix one while the one you made on the kuvings vacuum blender a while ago hasnt. Why is that?

The only thing I can think of is: When I cut up the apples to do this demo, I used already partially damaged (bruised) apples that already had the browning enzymes within the apple. (on both sides) I can only think that the vacuum blending can prevent browning of apples IF there is not the browning enzyme already present. I hope to test this hypothis in a future episode.

I would recommend contacting tribest. If you have a US mailing address, im sure they would ship it there for $15, and then get it next time your in the States, or have a friend ship it to you.

Good review John but I was disappointed that you didn't compare the two apple mixes. I was surprised that the color or apparent oxidation was the same for the vacuumed vs the non-vacuumed bottles. Maybe the new blade had some effect on it. Any explanation?

I'm surprised both glass jars were equally brown over time. I know that normally doesn't happen. The vacuum does do a better job of preventing oxidation and is usually noticeable immediately after blending. Certainly there is less air in the vacuum blended mixture...

Nice! As for the "one-touch-delay" feature you'd suggest: Sometimes a blender carafe will shake slightly on its base, depending on what is being blended. The shaking might cause the vacuum pump to fall off onto the counter or, worse yet, onto the floor and break!

Ahhh. very true. That being said, generally when the automatic vacuum is done vacuuming, it is "vacuum locked" on the top of the carafe until you break the vacuum. That being said, it would be good to have clips on both parts if they choose to do this upgrade.
