Hey Andy... excellent review... keep up the good work! Two questions please: 1) Have you noticed a drastic decrease in battery life when wearing the headphones in cold temperatures (e.g. below 5°C)? Mine are relatively new and under those low temperatures, mid-low volume, ANC on, they last around 5h ish before asking for recharge. 2) Is the USB-provided cable limited in terms of standard USB features? I tried my cable with multiple of my regular wall chargers to charge my Samsung Galaxy Ultra and the phone said over and over it would last about 5x the normal charging time (hence I didn't even bother testing any data transfer speeds with a laptop and my phone)
@AndysTechTone28 күн бұрын
@jasonwebb5008 It barely ever drops below 5°C here in Ireland to be honest so I cannot really test in those conditions but cold temperatures tend to drain batteries faster in general, so I'm actually not surprised. As for the USB, I never even touch cables bundled with any earbuds because they mostly are there for show only and do not perform that well.

I have both gens of these earbuds, and I'd get the Gen 1 especially when they've gone on sale frequently. (Generally around $150 but Amazon Prime day had them for $130) The Gen 2's did improve a couple things, mostly the transparency mode. (I can hear my own voice now, the previous Gen would muffle my voice but everything else was fine) And I find the smart case attachment very useful for gaming. My Xbox never had Bluetooth and finally having proper earbuds with my Series S is so great. What is a mixed bag is the ANC. While they improved a little, it kinda got worse in some environments. It'll cancel out regular noise just fine; but when I was at a bar, some voices pierced through and it was very audible. Never had this issue with the Gen 1's. I hope this can be patched as otherwise these are great earbuds.

I have both and have been comparing the sound quality painstakingly back and forth and for some reason the Gen 2 sounds quieter and not as dynamic as Gen 1. The ANC and hear-through is markedly better but listening to bass heavy hip-hop, these Gen 2's dont "thump," the same. Can you speak to this? Using exact same EQ on both.
@AndysTechTone4 ай бұрын
Yeah, I talked about it in the video as well. The bass is dialed back and so is the treble making the frequency response more balanced. The V-shaped sound of the gen1 comes across as more dynamic due to the boosted bass and hihgs and of course it can help with certain genres such as hip-hop. But overall, in my opinion, the rather neutral sound signature of the gen2 is more versatile and less fatiguing in the long run.

I have been long turn user on Jabra products back dated to 2000 and still have the original Active Sport working just fine. for the pass few years I have using the Air Pod Pro Gen 2 due to the amazing Hear Through/Transparency feature. On Amazon Prime day I bought a set of Jabr Elite 8 Active Gen 1 wanting to have the magnetic ear bud case, waterproof and Hear Through features and the was very disappointed as the Hear Through was a lot worse than my old "broken"(according to Apple technician test) Air Pod Pro Gen 1 which I can hear some of my own breathing noise in the Hear Through/Transparency mode. Would that be normal on the Elite 8 Active Gen 1 or did I just got a defective product? Have you compared the Hear Through & Transparency mode between the new Jabra Elite 8 Active Gen2 and the Apple Air Pod Pro Gen 2 and what is your experience? Can't find any reviewers that spend much time talking about this important feature to me and comparisons.
@AndysTechTone5 ай бұрын
@@Jeo-What there is nothing on the market that can beat the Hearthrough mode on the Airpods Pro 2. It just sounds more natural than (any) Jabra across all scenarios especially in breezy weather outside. As for the difference between the two generations of the E8A, the gen2 is more intense with more of a hissing sound, so not sure if you'd like it. There is the slider in the app where you can always dial it down a bit but that applies to both Jabras

I have the E8AG2 as we speak... as an avid runner the buds don't quite stay secure and firm while running/sprinting compared to Beats Fit Pro. The wing-tips are truly missed. You will constantly hear the friction in the ears as you run which can be cumbersome. The bass it not tight enough as well but all-round the sound is pretty decent. I'm really happy with Jabras however I hope Beats come up with an upgrade version cause they stayed fit to my ears with no problem.

Hello,i have gen 2, what i don't like is that you have to press to change the song and it doesn't have touch (in the past i used Samsung Buds gen2) it's much nicer with touch than pressing on the earbuds when you're on the train with noise canceling you feel the vibrations in the earbuds and when you're outside you feel the wind blowing in your ear (I didn't experience all this with Samsung Buds 2) the music is perfect with the perfect bass.
@AndysTechTone4 ай бұрын
@@limmortalegabriel5249 The pressing action might be a touch more uncomfortable at times depending on how (deep) the buds sit in your ear canals. But these buttons work more reliably across all use case scenarios such as wet fingers, cold weather with a hat or gloves on etc. And as sports/adventure/rugged earbuds this consistency is key I guess...

Coming from Samsung galaxy buds there are two things I don't understand with Jabra. Why the need to turn them off with a long press. There was no such need to switch off with the galaxy buds. Why in single mode you lose volume control and power off is the default. Also in the app there are options to auto off. There was no feature with the galaxy buds which remained in standby. If I don't want to wear the buds I put them back in the case. They would charge. The concept of switching them off seems strange. Why do you need that?
@AndysTechTone5 ай бұрын
@@johndoe-vc1we I know people who tend to just leave their earbuds on the kitchen table or on the night stand, so auto off can come in handy. I also like the option to turn off the buds without having to use the case but the lack of volume control in single mode can be annoying indeed...

Support will continue for the warranty period of two years. What they might choose to do is add features that are not present in Gen 1. What that can be is hard to say since gen1 is already well featured. Take for instance the Bose QC2 vs Ultra. The latter got the multipoint update but the earlier QC2 hasn't seen a firmware update since early last year.
