Improved Victorinox Venture Knife Sheath / How you can get one

Four weeks ago I went into a Victorinox shop to buy 3-slot-scales to upgrade my old Woodsman SAK. When I told them I have had it with me for more than thirty years traveling on four continents the gave me the scales, complete with a pin, a pen and tweezers for free and even cleaned and oiled my knife. Outstanding service, shoutout to Victorinox!

I bought a Victorinox Craftsman in 1985 and carried it daily until I retired it last year and replaced it with a Champion Plus. The extra bulk of the pliers is not good for me and I already have Knipex 150 mm pliers which are far stronger and can be used in conjunction with the Champion.

I followed your tips and contacted Victorinox regarding a new sheath for my Venture. It arrived today. They sent me the plastic part so all I did was transfer the belt clip from the defective sheath. The new sheath does not rattle and the knife is held much more solidly. You hear the CLICK when you sheath it. I am pleased with the service and Victorinox will keep me as a customer. Just visited a knife store that carries the Venture knife. They said the Pro was pulled back for a problem but the clerk didn’t know what it was. I suspect it was this issue(s) so hope it returns soon so I may inspect it and perhaps purchase it. Well done Felix! You are doing your job as an influencer excellently! 👍👍

I bought my Venture recently here in Australia . Finally a knife designed to be a knife and not a crow bar . I easily fixed the retention problem ( Without the hot water ) and also found that the Mora craftline sheaths are a perfect fit . Always enjoy your vids .

Very happy with the new sheath, it’s great that Victorinox listened so well to their customers! I really like the Venture knife! Yes the edge seems a little thin, but experience has proven that it holds up as well or better than other knives with thicker edges, even for tasks such as batoning, etc. And the handle comfort is superb!

@@FelixImmler Thanks - I tend to be very conservative with batoning, only using it for making finer kindling and never batoning through anything thicker than half the length of the blade, so a couple of inches wide at most for the Venture. I did have one Venture I damaged with batoning, I was going through a larger piece of wood than I should have and the grain of the wood was very twisted, so it caused a warped spot in the blade. But it was really my fault for over-extending the knife (and not stopping when I hit resistance). The edge holds very well, I have never had it chip or roll on me (even when the blade warped under the batoning conditions), and it holds an edge for a very long time. The extended tang works not only for spoons, but does really well at throwing sparks from a ferro rod too - I prefer the tang for that over the back of the blade to avoid discoloration of the blade. Overall my favorite bushcraft knife, over even more expensive options!

Finally I got the sheath here in Hong Kong directly for the Victorinox shop in Central. Some email for the service centre did help to order the new sheath. Thanks to Victorinox for the good service.

As far as your trip with the family and kids that always happens when you go camping I remember when my kids were small everything happened rain , thunder , and cell phone problems we learn from these issues so that way we can have a better campsite with better cell phone coverage and great camping experience with the family thanks for sharing Felix !

Super Update! Hatte direkt nach dem erhalt des Venture Pro eine Mail geschrieben und nach 2 Wochen eine Antwort erhalten, dass neue Scheiden in Planung sind und nach Produktion versandt werden. Meiner Meinung nach der Richtige weg, ein Super Messer noch besser zu machen und die Kunden zu behalten. Anbei noch riesen Lob für die Tipps zum nacharbeiten deinerseits, habe die Scheide direkt angepasst, hat leider nicht bei dem Drehen der Klinge geholfen, was die Schneide immer stumpf gemacht hat. Deine Videos sind immer eine Freude und deine Antworten auf Kritik, Anregungen oder Fragen immer schnell draußen. Mach weiter so.

Hi Felix and thanks for the video. I found the rattling and the fact that it doesn't hold so well on the sheath does not bother me. However, i did have to replace the black rubber ring with a leather loop because with taking the knife in and out of the sheath, the rubber ring rubbing against the sharp hammer edge damaged it and it eventually broke. I should imagine other people have experienced this problem. Otherwise I'm very happy, it's a great knife! Thanks again and kind regards, Martin

- Those little details are what make the difference and keep Victorinox at the top. I don't know how much this "error" has cost them, but it's good to see that they fixed it and improved the design. - The only 'problem' that is not related to Victorinox is that the so-called 'collectors' are going to want to resell the old model as 'The first edition' or 'the one with the error' for 3 or 4 times the value of the actual knife.

It impresses me that Victorinox have responded with good solutions so quickly. Clearly, they are serious about this product. Importantly, I appreciate that you pointed out that the Venture knives are primarily for CUTTING, and they do that very well, even the critics agree (some of them!). I'm a huge fan of Victorinox knives and have owned their products since 1995. I'm close to knife number 70. However, I find their customer service subpar in the country where I live (Brazil). Their turnaround times are long and if they take longer than usual, there's never an apology, let alone a token of appreciation for your loyalty (e.g., sending you a little gift for the excessive delay). Also, if you write to inquire about such delays, you'll either hear crickets or a less-than-convincing excuse. The last time I needed to send in an item for repair, I ended up expressing my frustration directly via Instagram. They asked what my name was, my e-mail address, and other things. At that time I thought they would address the issue, but unsurprisingly they never got back to me.

I’m keeping the original sheath. The rattle isn’t all that bad, it’s my secondary blade anyway. Paired with a more robust bushcraft blade, it’s an excellent tool for food processing and finer cutting tasks. The thinner blade isn’t one I would consider batoning with, but it’s a feather sticking monster.

It is a little bit more difficult to remove the knife from sheath, bacause the new sheath provides less support for the thumb. Hi, i would like your opinion . The rangergrip 57 hunter, is strong enough to handle the 1/4 in drive modification? The use i need is for screws and sockets up to 13mm.

I made 20mm holes... but i would use the modification on the rangergrip only if you dont have an other 1/4 driver. It works but is not heavy duty!

I have the Venture with the new knife sheath. The holding force of the sheath is high enough to prevent it from falling out. The securing with the rubber ring still makes sense on longer tours or in the backpack. I'm lucky wih this knife. 6:20 Felix Immler pulls faster than his shadow. 🤣

Hallo Felix Ich habe das Venture pro direkt mit der neuen Scheide bekommen. Ein super Messer! Mir scheint der Rückhalt aber etwas stark. Wenn die Scheide ins Tragesystem eingeklickt ist und man es zieht, kommt die Scheide manchmal mit. Hast Du ähnliche Erfahrungen gemacht?

Ja, das stimmt. Das haben mir schon zwei drei Leute geschrieben. Bei mir passiert das aber nie, weil ich das Messer immer mit dem Daumendruck auf den Scheidenrand ziehe. Versuche mal den Messergriff etwas zum Körper zu drücken wenn Du das Messer ziehst, dann passiert das auch nicht. LG Felix

Not many knives would get such huge customer feedback, credit to them for fixing the issues. It’s slightly odd that the faulty one went into production, as Felix said the last prototype he handled was OK.

I dont have one of this knife but if...i would keep my original sheat because its maybe a collection thing...i hope they sell the sheats without knifes so collectors can upgrade and keep the old one ;-)

Now I'm interested in getting one. The knife always interested me, the sheath kept me away. I love 14C28N steel, one of my favorites. Now the trick of getting one with the upgraded sheath. Where to buy it? Directly from Victorinox? *Anyone know where the least expensive new sheath model can be had?*

hab dem Kundenservice geschrieben, heute die Antwort bekommen dass auch das Gürteltragesystem für das Venture Pro überarbeitet wurde und beides Anfang März versandfertig sein wird. Danke für den Tipp 👍🏻
