Just showing what I did to make my Tokarev more accurate and a bit smoother. Here is the link to the article that inspired it.

Great explanation. Did most of those things to my M-57s right after receiving them. Instead of breaking off the magazine safety, I wedged a small piece of plastic tie wrap under it to hold it securely out of the way. It can be easily reversed if I should ever sell the guns, but mags now drop free and the trigger is very nice.

You can also Smith the slide to tighten up the play if any in the slide you take a tiny light ball peen hammer tapping it little by little bit on the slide rails it tightens up the slide on the frame rails lessening the barrel movement thus tightening up your groups. Johnny Glocks video on slide work is here on KZbin check it out I did it to my Taurus g2c and my tokarev tt33 works better than before . You can also buy a 1911 picatinny rail that mounts on the trigger guard and mount a green dot laser then your groups with tighten up even more. Put a Firefly laser and strobe light on my tokarev tt33 works great.

I wouldn't do that unless you make a proper jig. Brass bars on either side of the slide in a vice and slowly squeeze. A lot of 1911s were ruined in the 70s by garage gunsmiths doing this. I do a lot of things to my guns but I'm a 35 year mechanical engineer.

My surplus M57 I did replace the firing pin spring and recoil spring. Let me tell you it took three people to disassemble and reassemble the the spring on the captive guide-rod. I am not completely sure that it made a difference, but my local gun store owner recommended it. The new firing pin spring was definitely noticed. My groups shrunk by half after putting on Marschals finger groove grips. I have not smoothed the sides of the trigger or bent/straightened the trigger spring, yet. I did remove the magazine disconnect spring which helped. I might need to remove or polish the remnants of the spring as the mags still get marked up, though that might be from the mag release, the notch on the button. Have you done anything to shim the fire control group? I read one guy used copper foil to shim the group, so it wouldn’t move as much. I know mine rattles when you shake the gun. I have not polished any of the rails or fire control group. I do not know if I am competent enough to do that. Do you think 1500 grit (maybe less than that) would be adequate to polish without removing too much material? You can definitely see machine marks in the grooves on the slide. I know at 15 yards if I do my part and am relaxed I can get 3 inch groups. It used to be more like 5 groups or larger before putting the new grips on. They definitely improve consistency in grip and trigger pull.

I tried a compensator on mine but the crack on firing is very hard on the ears and I always use the foam plugs AND earmuffs. Much more comfortable to shoot without a compensator

The only negative imo on the Comp for the Tokarev is that you lose that flash/ball of fire. It makes it shoot flatter for me.

Is this the new Zastava M57a? I'm having tons of accuracy issues with it. Using new PPU ammo, its shooting a foot low at 10yrds, and the groups are all over the place. I noticed the barrel bushing is bent slightly outward on the bottom by the recoil spring guide rod hole. I'm going to try and bend that back to be straight. Its frustrating because this is the second pistol that Zastava has sent me after the first one was determined to be defective. Their QC needs some real work...

@@yakarbakyar8206I straightened the bushing and later replaced it. Gun still shoots like shit and ammo is expensive, so it just sits in the gun safe. At least it doesn’t jam
