Thank you, Galen! It's so important to flip the perspective and talk about what you're for rather than what you're against.

I strive to be positive in my interactions. Even if I have a bad day, there is no reason to make others suffer. At work, if I foresee an issue, I will say something. I don't want my team to be blindsided. I have been given feedback that I am pessimistic because of this. What are some phrases I can use that can soften the blow - so to speak?

Hey Marion, love the question and my advice would actually be to say this exact thing to your team, coming from a place of "Here's what I've heard, and here's where I'm coming from, and here's my intent," and pose the same question to them. I think that a transparent convo like that with them or whomever you've heard that feedback from will do two things: First, it'll make them aware of your perspective and where you're coming from which might erase that perception on their part, and secondly have them tell you how to share those things with them and what language to use so that it doesn't come across as seeming pessimistic. In the process they gain a better understanding of you and hopefully build better communication overall:)
