I love that!! I have the same crimper and thought my difficulty was just because I am an old woman with small hands! Heeehee... I definitely will benefit from your clever solution for holding the wire and lug in proper place while needing two hands to crimp! THANK YOU!

Thank you, for the nice comments, yes, it is a great crimper, but rather difficult to use. This little jig has made it easy to get good crimps every time without struggling. Happy Holidays and happy crimping.

Awesome idea. Have to install a smart shunt in the engine room of a boat so not able to work on a bench. This will make my job so much easier to work down there solo. Thank you!

Great, this is such a useful crimping tool and a jig like this makes it so much easier to use, especially for multiple crimps or like for you, in tight spaces. Good luck in the engine room and Merry Christmas.

Would like more information on building your belt / disc sander stand. Looks very handy good design. Lynn

Hi Lynn I made a few useful jigs and devices including the disc and belt sander before I started making KZbin videos. Unfortunately, I cannot show the build, but I could explain how it was made and the parts I used. I promise I will do a video for you, so if you subscribe to my channel, you will get notified when it is posted.

Good idea. Rube Goldberg strikes again. I’m considering buying that crimped tool and making it a bench top tool will help stabilize it. Great job!

Thank you, it's a great crimpimg tool and so much easier to use with some type of jig.

If you used a bench vice you could simply clamp onto the metal flange on the back side of the crimping tool in the vice. Doing it this way would allow you to have the actual open end of the crimping tool facing up.

I bought the same crisper a few months ago, and just did my first crimps today…apparently I need four hands to operate it. Great idea for a jig!
@BrightSparkIdeas3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jay, it is a good and very useful crimper, however, if you have to make lots of crimps, it would be helpful to make a similar jig. Mine was quick and easy to build, and saves a lot of struggling with the crimper. Plus I get perfect crimps every time.

Thank you Theo, it certainly helps if you are doing a lot of crimps on large gauge wire. Bright Spark Ideas is a new channel, so if you have not already done so, please subscribe to help the channel get better visibility on KZbin.

KH, thank you, for your kind words it encourages me to continue to make helpful videos. if you have seen any of my other Solar videos, you will notice that I can't resist showing how easy it is to make great crimps every time using the hydraulic crimping tool with this simple jig.

Ever considered making some of these fixtures for sale? I would be interested.
@BrightSparkIdeas Жыл бұрын
Hi Victor, it’s a good idea, but I am not sure it would be practical. I live in San Jose California, and I think shipping the larger jigs / fixtures would make them way to expensive. I love making them for my workshop, and they get a lot of use, but I do not feel they are of the quality to be sold. Try making one yourself and embrace your own creativity, I am sure your will have fun and enjoy the challenge.

A minor problem with this setup, is that the open end faces down.
@BrightSparkIdeas2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, for your comment. I was concerned about that too, but could not figure out any other way to pump the handle. Having used this jig dozens of times, it has not been an issue with this crimping tool as it is still very easy to see the crimp and guide the wire into place.

Oh! interesting idea, where do you clamp the crimper to keep it stable and still be able to pump the handle? I would love to see a video.
