There's plenty of reconstructions of European clothing & armour through the ages but I haven't seen much at all of other parts of the world beyond all the videos on the Samurai of Japan. This was an interesting insight into the subject.

This is definitely interesting to me. I've participated in western European medieval reenactment, in a series of settings. One thing I've always wanted to get into is Andalusi, and later Taifa period reenactment, but there isn't much of a public for it, especially in the UK where I live. Great impression. Good attention to sources. Well done.

This is great video. One thing that I'm rather curious on is how does Arab armor work in the heat. We know it works in the heat but why does it work better than other armor types? One reason I'm curious is because I do LARP which means live action roleplay. A gross simplification is that is like Dungeons and Dragons but you actually act out the parts and do the fighting. There are many larpers who live in hot areas like New Mexico or Texas and this information could be useful to them. Not only in a mechanics of playing the game but could help them not get overheated when fighting.

Riding boots Sirwal - baggy trousers qamis - the undershirt Padded gambison - the layer to soften blows & such (The thing that every medival army used but that most writers have never heard of) Belt - to keep the material close to the body Chain mail shirt - protective armour (Leather) lamella armour - the main armour on the front of the body Arm braces - made of leather or iron to protect the forearm in combat Turban scarf - around the neck Turban helmet - an egg shaped helmet with a turban wrapped around it. Islamic style helmet with nasal Round shields (usually leather), Curved swords (saif)/ straight sword, dagger. I think I have the words right for this. I am using the video as reference for the descriptions of the armour of the Southern Similayans an ethnic group in my writing that is heavily influenced by the ideas of Arab & other Middle eastern Cultures along with the Turks of the Steeps (however the group I just call the great nomads is more influenced by the Turks, & Mongols)

Condor cutlasses are cheap high quality Islamic-style cutlasses. Of course the cutlass design was a Muslim sword design tweaked for the US Navy so it’s very similar, and very good. Strangely when it comes to daggers, something like a condor bowie looks alright and would also be a useful tool and not just a secondary weapon.

What’s crazy is the cutlass and the Western European military sabre are “modern” descendants of the 16th century German/Central European dussack, which definitely did adopt the blade design from Turkic Muslims in the region. They added a European style complex hilt, bad for fighting with a shield but very good for using the sword on its own or with a matchlock pistol in the other hand.

Some constructive critism: Try and get hardened or boiled leather for your lamellar armor, untreated chrometaned leather is not that cut resistant. Historically boiled/hardend leather would have been prefered. Same goes for the arm guards. Also try to avoid shiny metal pop rivets on the straps, it's better to use mild steel/iron/brass rivets instead of nickel plated ones. Its even better to sew the straps onto the armour. Same for the sword frog/suspension system, i don't suspect that it is based on a historical design but of course i'm willing to be proven wrong. I'm not going to comment on the mail shirt, since that is probably something you're already working on and, using this to give an impression. Keep it up.

I spend last 6 months looking fo historical sources about arabic arms and armours in museum collection and books with this and... You too should do this. Is better than in last movie with LARP leather armour, but in lammeral should be arms protection or should be chainmail under it, no shirt. Most heavy east armors have source in China and Korean, and spread acros Asia and east through Mongolian warriors. So Your "example" armour in real is completly useless. Nice that You doing this material, but You need looking little more about this in more historical sources, becouse for reconstructuon it is, unfortunately, not correctly.
