A 14 min video about a ferrofluid display, 13:30 minutes shows just these two guys talking, 0:05 seconds shows the actual Ferrofluid Display working. Bold editing choice.

Great work! I'm so impressed with how it looks, and it really shows how good that anti-stain process works, too! I'd def be interested to see the bottom while more of the ferrofluid isbfurther up, but I can see that it's done great! I'm so excited to hear from you all again, and look forward to the future with you. Thank you so much for sharing this with us!

Thanks! There are definitively some stains in our display at the very bottom. I'd say the ferrofluid is getting sort of clumpy as well, so it's far from perfect, but it does really well for the relatively low amount of chemistry we had to do to get it to work. All the other descriptions we found while working on this required processing that was a lot more involved.

I just arried on your channel - it's going to be fun. Thanks. I don't have the time to watch all your videos in the DIsplay series now, but from what I can see of that huge nest of wires, you seem to be driving each magnet individually - in parallel. If that's not true, you don't need to read any more as I'm proceeding from a false premise. Usually, in matrix displays driven by microcontrollers, the matrix elements are connected to a set of common row and column lines. and then energised one at a time by driving the correct row and column line to "address" the target element. Then the array is scanned by the microntroller rapidly, so that - although only one element is ever energised at once - it looks like many are. Keyboard switches are read this way, too. In this case, the scanning regime would have to work against gravity as un-energised elements might drop their fluid globule, though I can think of a couple of ways around that, and inertia might be all you actually need. Anyway, the advantage would be vastly simplified control wiring at the expense of driver complexity. Perhaps that idea might help you somehow.

Please show this in movement way longer, it's so beautiful to look at (when it moves) but the editing of the video only shows about 1.5 seconds and it switches the camera perspective. I think people would like to watch this for twenty seconds, it's way too short get your brain grasp what's going on especially since 99% of the people have never seen a Ferrofluid display in their lives.

I totally agree with you personally and we used to do this in our older videos, but we noticed that most of our viewers skipped through this part of the video (so, apparently, you and I are a minority). Maybe you will find the previous video in the Fetch-series suits your preferences better :)
