I just threw down some gypsum in my minnesota lawn. I was also hoping to lower the PH but I guess the sulfur in gypsum wont lower PH after doing further research. Regardless, my lawn gets rock hard in the summer and trying to break up the soil. I added some a few years ago and I do see my lawn starting to get softer over time.

Would you use gypsum if your're already high in calcium? Also high in sodium, salinity, sulfur, and pH is high.

I want to grow grass this year, what would be the best approach for phoenix? It’s early-mid march not sure if i have to throw seeds or install sod? What would you recommend?

We always recommend Sod over any seeding at this time of year, because Bermuda seed is so difficult to germinate in Phoenix
