These exercises are precisely what I've needed through beginner chanter practice. My regimen: pp 1-4 day 1, pp 5-8 day 2, pp 9-12 day 3 and then I start other practice after these scales. My other exercises and tunes are much crisper after making "Fluidity" the start of practice. Thanks again, Matt! Well worth the grueling time spent on scales.

For those with Blair digital chanters. This is a fantastic exercise as the crossing noises can be quite evident. Mainly the lift/drop and rolling. However it won’t pick up phantom cross

I have always had difficulty keeping my fingers relaxed while playing. Regular scales did help but with any note changes outside of the regular scale caused me to tighten up. These exercises challenge and keep me thinking while allowing my fingers to practice staying relaxed. Also they build endurance on the full pipes. Thanks Matt

Hi there pal, I love your videos keep em coming, I have something for you to try I know you'll love, I've been playing for a few years now and have tried the g1 platinum chanter and reeds but after talking to the best piper in my band I saved up and went for the Chesney MK3 chanter and tried a couple of their reeds and the sound I get now from my pipes with the solo reed and mk3 chanter and balance tone high resonance drone reeds is amazing the harmony is incredible and the best my pipes have ever sounded, if you do try give me a shout please and let me know what you think, cheers dude happy piping!

Could you do a video explaining the basics of piobaireachd?
@MattWillisBagpiper
@MattWillisBagpiper 2 жыл бұрын
I'll probably leave that to the experts. I dabble in piobaireachd, and there are more authoritative voices on the subject out there. I'll likely eventually have tutorials on some piobaireachd embellishments however.

Why hold the last note of a triplet too long? Because as an exercize we're focused on each triplet as a unit, instead of the entire exercise. But that interval jump is crucial.

Nope... Still using the forward facing camera on my iPhone 11 Pro. Does this video look different? I didn't take time to set up lighting for the "redo" playing footage.
