I can't speak for blind people, but I'm pretty sure the ones I'm friends with would get a laugh out of the auditory cheerleaders. Indeed, I think it's a clever idea for exploring the creative potential/infinite possibilities of accommodation practices. You included blind/vision-impaired people in a way that doesn't mock them or their disability, and simply made a logical joke that observes the basic realities of their lives. I think that's valuable recognition. Disability shouldn't make people off-limits for feeling, for lack of a less ironic word, _seen_ by popular creators. :P
@gabbym3332 жыл бұрын
Hmmm it kinda seems like you're speaking for them.
@ItsAsparageese2 жыл бұрын
@@gabbym333 > pretty sure > the ones I'm friends with My words are very specifically chosen to limit the purview of my conjecture, as well as make clear that it's a conjecture. Nowhere did I ever deny, or say anything that conflicts with, the fact that not everyone in any given community will feel the same ways about the same jokes. I am someone with multiple disabilities, and helped raise someone in my immediate family with very severe disabilities, so I do know what it's like to have some kinds of disability experiences, and I do know the difference between speaking cautiously and speaking presumptuously. And I do also know that, generally, being completely ignored and excluded from societal interaction/engagement is more harmful, for most individuals, in most cases, than being included in most humor that most people would consider tasteful. If you want to pretend I said something I didn't, that's your prerogative, of course -- and it's also solely your problem.

The other day, I had a dream where I was in a simulation game, where it was so realistic I couldn't tell I was in a simulation. And bad things kept happening, like the world was trying to kill me, natural disasters and gun violence and stuff, and someone came to tell me that the only way to safety was getting to a certain island. That someone was Daniel, except this version of Daniel had shorter hair and was called James. He wore a black pullover hoodie, which I noticed in the dream made him like Hoodie Guy but not Hoodie Guy. Anyway, I realized when he told me that that I was in a game, to which he nodded. Then I asked if me realizing that made the game aware that I was aware. He nodded, and explained to me that he was part of the game's AI that was trying to save people. But the other part of the AI was what was trying to torture people. That part of the AI was just Daniel, looking just like he does in this video. So I was trying to get to the island, and I was caught in a waterfall situation, and I called for Daniel so I could talk to him. "James" showed up and I said no, I wanted to talk to Daniel specifically. I wanted to make some kind of agreement with him that would benefit me, like a "heads you lose, tails I win" situation that a computer AI wouldn't realize was rigged against them. I woke up before Daniel was able to tell me if he agreed to it or not. The most interesting part of all of this is that even when "James" and Daniel were in the same scene, they never appeared "on camera" so to speak at the same time. That has nothing to do with this video but I've been wanting to share.

PS: I'm also VI from birth, and no, I don't have a problem with that. Made me laugh harder than the others. It's like Toph in "Avatar": my bestie and I both love her self-referential blind jokes, though she DOES tend towards the super-crip thing. I can give it a pass, though, because it's a Universe with literal magic.
@Alex-fc8xn2 жыл бұрын
Super-crip is such an interesting way of referring to the "disabled in a way that makes me a superhero" trope. But upon reading it my first thought was like "yes, ho ho, I am a super-crip! I have collected enough disabilities for my infinity stone gauntlet and now I am undefeatable! By anyone other than myself... which happens most of the time because of ignoring limitations and dealing with the rebound fatigue/pain/etc..." (I've had people accuse me of trying to "collect" diagnoses before as if there's a limit to how many health problems a person can have so I must be making up some of them 🙄 so the idea of collecting enough to unlock super powers which I can't really benefit from because I'm too busy taking care of my health is really funny to me.) Though my overly acute senses related to being autistic and ADHD could be considered "super" by some because I can hear/smell/taste/etc. things that most people can't and it sometimes comes in handy like noticing a very faint gas leak or being able to hear when an electrical device or wiring needs fixing before it starts causing problems because it sounds different from normal. But I find that in modern settings my senses cause more problems than benefits because I get overwhelmed, develop headaches, struggle to focus because they distract me, am extremely picky about food, cannot handle being around anyone singing even slightly off key, etc.
