Yaakov. I'm retired now, but I am one of the most experienced guItar teachers in the UK. 43 years as a senior teacher across three local authorities. I love the simplicity of your teaching. So many online guitar teachers talk so much they often obscure the point that they are trying to get across! I have shared your link with some of my former colleagues, a couple of whom are very well known indeed. Keep up the good work.

Brilliant lesson, possibly the best Gypsy Jazz lesson ever! You show technique and melodic concepts over a standard song form so that it can be instantly be used by the student. It is easy to hear the early jazz masters like Django, and Charlie Christian using chord shapes, it sounds a lot more musical and logical than playing scales. Please keep the song based coming .

Thanks a lot, Reverend Rick! Notice that I use examples from songs in my lessons, even when the song name isn't part of the title. I've even developed some complete courses based on specific songs. My God!! I wish this video existed a few months ago, or that I found it. I just figured out this stuff from playing gypsie jazz and picking up a few things from youtube. But you confirmed a lot of my ideas and gave more to do with it. I am now learning the E7 shapes and diminished shapes. But this Major E triad is very nice in its own right!

That's great! next stage is to add motifs based on these shapes. Enjoy!

@@GypsyAndJazz Ahh Yan such an honour to recive a message from you. I saw you gave an example of some motifs. Do they follow strict form or dose it vary. As in if I had a 5 note motif and the third note was the root of the chord. Would that mean when I change chord to repeat the motif I would have that chords third note the root of that chord (not scale root unless in the 1st mode)

This is really one of the best lessons I have ever had on playing. It was incredibly eye opening and you made the concept so simple to follow. Jazz in general, gypsy or not, has a strange following of bad teachers who are less musical and more sterile in their explanations. Often times you can walk away from a jazz lesson confused. I love how you say ' forget about 6th's and 9th's, just remember the shapes'! I wonder how many amazing early jazz players learned this way. Great job, I feel like I stumbled into a secret guild of old world player's secrets.
