From eating disorders side: I thought stomache acid was from the H+ not the Cl-? and I thought you said in an earlier slide that Amenorrhea was no longer a criteria in DSM 5 for Anorexia nervosa?

How can trichotillomania be in ocd when it's ego-syntonic? And what is their obsession if pulling hair is compulsion?

In Trichotillomania, is there a sense of pleasure or a sense of discomfort in the act?i.e. Is it ego- syntonic or dystonic?
@lun23518 жыл бұрын
I guess, Paul mentioned that Trichotillomania is egosyntonic. Patients with "hair-pulling disorder" feel tension before pulling out the hair and pleasure, gratification, or relief when pulling out the hair. However, this behavior can cause clinically significant distress or impairment in social functioning because of other people's attitude towards these patients. For example, these patients' classmates or colleagues can make fun of them; this may result in low self-esteem in these patients.

It was ego-syntonic (no doubt). DSM-5 however, adds the criterion of "repeated attempts to decrease or stop the hair-pulling behaviour" and categorize it in OCDs section. = ego-dystonic.......
