Very, very helpful. I’m legally blind so the written instructions were useless; but your video was so useful. Thank you

PFS looks like a good build from what I saw. Construction wise anyway, I can't speak for the internal electronics. (the one she's showing in the video.) American International Electric is probably one of the best. It almost looks like AIE makes PFS's as they look almost identical. All impulse sealers work the same. The difference is in the construction and electronics. And there can be a huge difference when it comes time to using it. Some things you want to check for is that the hinge area is built stout and offers the arm almost no side to side movement. I own an AIE model. It's probably 35 to 50 years old. Parts are still available. And it works great! Very well constructed, great electronics. The only thing I've done is change the Teflon and for the goof put in a fresh element. (The original is still good) I also own one that looks almost identical. Just bought it used in fact thinking it was the same brand. That's how close they look alike. It's longer length. Huge difference in the rear hinge area. Huge difference in the entire construction. The arm has so much slop. If you don't watch when you use it, the fore most part won't even be on the heating element. It's pathetic. Huge difference in weight. My little one weighs probably almost twice as much. So before you go running to buy one of those cheap ones. Know there are substantial differences between a good one and a cheap crap one. Even though they look from the pictures almost identical. For me to get this inexpensive one to work properly I'm going to have to modify it. And it's practically brand new. Stick with a proven brand. AIE impulse sealers are one of them.

Thanks, I'm thinking of buying one and I was afraid it would be difficult to maintain. This was great.

You dont need to buy the teflon in a kit, if you can get the heat wires alone then just buy rolls of teflon tape and cut to size, you are paying extra for having them cut to size.

I don't know if this will help or nor, but I noticed you didn't get the bottom tape for your sealer, and I did what you did, I trimmed a Teflon strip to place on the bottom, this actually dosnt work, you need to get the sticky tape that goes on the bottom its actually made of a little different material, u tried what you did, and it burnt through the first time I used it, its actually a fire and shock hazard if you don't use the proper tape, its available on eBay for. A reasonable price, I hope that helps.

Bonnie, are you working on a PFS-300? The replacement heating element is 12 inches. Which on each end both the hole when placed, they stretch 1/8th inch from the bottom of the sealer. Do you have a closer video? Wish I could send you a photo.

I'm pretty sure that means you shorted out the metal band against the base. The tape underneath the band needs to prevent any contact with the blue metal base.
