great review. whats the weight of the DC frame itself?

It's about 15g heavier than the regular Apex, so you're looking at 130g for the DC lightweight and 140g for the standard DC.

The Session mount I use is just a couch, the Session itself is in Brain3D's Session armor that fits the TBS Jelloguard and Camera Butter Black Diamond filters. I only use the tab mount with the Hero9.

So I'm going to be building my first fpv quad, and decided on the Apex long ago. My question is which one, the regular or the DC. I do like the DC aesthetic more, they just look fast. But I was reading that for a beginner a true x might be better. Due to the way they designed the Apex DC though, theoretically it should fly the same. Is there any reason I should pick one over the other in your opinion?

Good question 👌🏼 In all honesty, they are as near as makes no difference the same to fly. Especially for a beginner. That being said, there is a slightly different feel to the DC that makes me prefer the standard layout. This is most likely due to experience with that variation. A very valid reason to go for the DC would be if you're running digital and don't intend to run a GoPro or HD cam and use the DJI DVR. On the DC you won't have props in view.

I think that if someone would print a mount thats closer to the front would get the props out

That or simply higher up. I'm certain a half inch higher would be enough. But in any case, I don't see the point of needing less than 15° on a build like this. 5" puts on speed pretty quick, something like a 4" cinerat would be more appropriate for situations where you want less tilt/speed.

@@verdi6092 I quite like it. My build is by all means the definition of a flying brick (630g 😅) but still has plenty of grip. If anything the weight just helps tame the throttle that much more. I've used it to chase a buddy's RC truck a few times 👌🏼

😂 different strokes for different folks. If you can't handle freestyle and want to see the result without so much movement, check any of my drift videos. That's what I use the DC for. Regardless, the point of this particular video was to compare the dynamic abilities of the deadcat geometry against the compressed-x of the standard frame. Flying around like a Mavic wouldn't really help achieve that.
