IMS 4 7 Gallon Tank Install - Yamaha WR250R

The IMS 4.7 gallon tank should give my WR250R over 250 miles of range to help conquer the NMBDR and the COBDR this year. Amazon link to the correct fuel tank below.

Steps I followed to install:
00:03 Remove front shrouds and seat
00:37 Unbolt and drain tank
00:56 Disconnect vent hose, power cable, and fuel line
01:21 On CA models connect long vent hose to plastic roll over valve
01:53 Note fuel spigot orientation, remove pump, replace pump O-ring
02:30 Locate lift pump outlet house and cable-tie to stock pump
03:04 Install fuel pump in tank with spigot in original orientation
03:42 Transfer stock front and back mounting brackets onto IMS tank
04:27 Locate vacuum line from throttle body per instructions
05:05 Place IMS tank onto the bike to reconnect fuel line and power cable
05:36 Connect vacuum line from tee or directly from throttle body to back of tank
05:56 Bolt tank to frame using stock bolts
06:21 Transfer seat hook to IMS tank & replace seat
06:59 Tighten front shroud bolts
07:15 Clean tank surface, admire your work, refill tank, check for leaks

Awesome tutorial! It helped me out a lot, especially with the stock tank removal. I don't live in CA so I just left that vent fitment for the throttle body open under the seat. Hope that's okay! I guess we'll see.

You do need to connect to throttle body so the auxiliary pump in the new tank works. If you don't connect to throttle body you won't be able to use all the fuel in the new tank.

Does it splice into the flapper tube?

@@endotron I believe so but mine had flapper removed so I had to buy a longer line and went straight to the throttle body.

Also did you have trouble getting your seat to go back on after this because mine won’t line up with the bolt holes

I had a bit more trouble, had to push seat forward hard as I started to thread in bolts. You may need to loosen tank in frame and shift it a bit before retightening.

What kind of hose did you use for the vacuum line

I took the vacuum line that came with the tank in to the autoparts store and grabbed a similar one. not sure exact dimensions.
