Hello Ben, I hope you see this. I want to thank you for taking the time to post these vids. They are very inspiring and entertaining as well. I just completed a DOF IMS , clutch replacement on my 01 Boxster S. I made all the tools req and saved some cash. If you ever find your way up to Alberta Canada ( I recommend summer time lol) I would like to buy you a coffee or beer. Hope all is well with you.

American ingenuity....... I made a tool many years back when I rebuilt a Ford AOD transmission. A clutch spring compressor. So I agree with your approach and my hat is off to your ingenuity.

For the camshaft lock tool, wouldn't aluminum stock work? Easier to grind for us diy'rs.

Super Thanks, nice and great info, I do need to know where you bought the IMS bearing from, I was going to buy the roller bearing kit, but I'm going with you on the Hybird ceramic bearing, Thanks again.

hey, once again, love all the vids on the boxster. I am curious what your take is on the LN ims solution, the one with the oil fed plain bearing, no rollers. i have 2000 box, just did a 5k oil change at 40k on the clock. def a little wet under there, keeping my fingers crossed its just the rms until it gets warm enough and I have the $$$ to do all the clutch, ims, rms, underdrive, water pump, etc. gonna have it up on stands for a bit wrenchin.... ya loan out the tools ya made??

I really like the LN plain bearing. I think it's the best solution of the bunch and possibly the only permanent solution. Time will tell... Anyway, you've got the right idea. swap it out when you're in there. I haven't thought of loaning out the tools. They're pretty simple to make, but I'm open to loaning them out if you want.

thanks for the quick reply. I found the guarantee with the LN solution is no good unless it is installed by an approved installer. Luckily there is one under an hour from my house. So I may not need to invest in extra tools (lemme tell ya how many Miata specialty tools I have) just need to save extra cash to have someone do the work.... keep on rockin the boxster!!

Ah, yes, I seem to remember LN saying the IMS solution *Required* professional installation. I don't know what all is involved, but I'll be interested in the consensus after it's been on the market for a few years. It would be nice to have a truly permanent solution.
