IMSA iRacing Fixed Series at Le Mans in the GT3/GTD class ends in tears!! |

I am racing the BMW M4 GT3 in the iRacing IMSA Fixed Series at Circuit de la Sarthe aka Le Mans and 24 Heures du Mans. The IMSA Fixed Series is a weekly series and features the LMDh/GTP, LMP2, and GT3/GTD classes. This is a Fixed setup 35 minute race. I chose not to qualify and started the race in the 23rd position in the GT3/GTD class. I had a pretty good race going until the the incident! I feel that I share most, but not all of the responsibility in what happened. Be sure to watch the replays at the end and let me know what you think about the incident. My initial opinion is that he may have drifted into me right before contact. I watched the replay again multiple times after the race. My wheel remained straight, but as we near the end of the Mulsanne straight my car appears to drift to the right although my wheel never moves. I'm wondering if the lines on the track are not perfectly straight here. The Porsche had wheel and aero damage so it's difficult to see if he was going straight because his wheel is slightly to the left. Moments before contact he makes two small steering inputs to the left right before we touch and doesn't let off the throttle until after I have spun. My opinion is I should have been more aware how close we were, but that he could have given me room especially since he had a better view of where I was in relation to his car, plus with his aero damage I would have left him after the next chicane. Sometimes that's how racing goes!
The 2024 IMSA iRacing Fixed Series is a multi-class racing series featuring LMDh/GTP, LMP2, and GT3/GTD classes. The highest class is the LMDh/GTP and includes the Cadillac V-Series.R, Porsche 963, BMW M Hybrid V8, and the Acura ARX-06. The LMP2 class has one car which is the Dallara P217 LMP2. The GT3 class includes the Audi R8 LMS EVO II GT3, BMW M4 GT3, Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO, Porsche 911 GT3 R, Ferrari 296 GT3, and the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO 2020.
