Considering how she blamed and hated herself for it, that truly shows how far she's come, that she has let go of the guilt she felt over it enough to joke about it, and that she also knows Yang is comfortable with it being joked about.

I do think there's a more defensible version of that argument that goes something like "The buildup goes to waste and feels incoherent because half of it never gets mentioned again and a lot of the other half doesn't string together as well as it should due to being put on the backburner for way too long." I actually started working on rewriting a lot of this aspect of the show recently, and I've found that the overwhelming majority of that work has been extending some existing conversations and adding some new ones here and there to act as more substantial connective tissue for a lot of the solid moments that are already there. It's been interesting looking back at it, as a whole that's ultimately less than the sum of its parts, just because those parts are way too sparsely scattered

even from season 1, i've seen these two interact the most with each other specifically within team rwby. it makes a lot of sense for them to eventually get together honestly, from how well they work together right from the get-go during the cadet trial to how much it meant to blake that yang gave up an arm to protect her (and how much it meant to yang that blake blamed herself during their time apart). even though adam was a part of the equation, he was honestly insignificant to their actual story. he definitely gave yang loads of opportunities to show how far she'd go to see blake safe, and blake equally many opportunities to finally stand firm and fight instead of distancing herself from her problems. BUT it didn't matter that adam was her ex, what did matter was that yang would've seen through to protect blake no matter who or what they were facing, and blake would've fought to protect yang in turn. i can easily see that they were meant to be the closest to each other in the team from day one, and i'm really glad they did end up being together.

I will at least say the pacing is pretty questionable since the buildup they have is VERY start and stop, especially when you stop to consider how a lot of the scenes in this video even from a single season released months apart in real time with very little related in-between stuff connecting them. What they have is good, really good, but they really needed to string it together more closely so that it actually feels more like consistent buildup. Certainly they have a lot of problems with weird omissions where they really really should have added more to a specific scene or conversation and then just kinda didn't, ESPECIALLY in seasons 1, 4, 5, 7, and 8

@@whensomethingcriesagain 1= shallow characterizations and introduction to the world; 4-5 Blake and Yang were literally separated but they still managed to put stuff in via Yang talking about Blake w/ Weiss and Sun bringing up Yang as well as the v4 OP transitioning with Blake staring into Yang's part and all the moments in the ending segment of v5 that screamed romantic relationship between BB; 7-8 are literally when they stopped being subtle and legit started showing their feelings for each other so they idea that they're lacking is a bit "what?". Though overall I'd say you need to remember that RWBY is more aligned to a shounen or sienen aka general audience show, instead of a shoujo-ai/yuri that's aimed at wlw specifically. The story doesn't revolve around them, but has them as an element within; which makes them that much better.

One of the many things i love about Bumbleby, is how Blake and Yang love and accept each other as they are. Even though Yang lost part of her arm and has to use a mechanical prosthetic arm. Blake doesn't think any less of Yang or view her as not whole. In Blake's eyes, Yang is still "complete". While Blake is a Fahnaus, Yang still accepts Blake as she is. Plus, i love that Blake and Yang's eyes are the color of the other one's aura. If that doesn't say that they are soulmates, then i don't know what does. Awesome video btw 🖤💛🖤💛🖤💛🐝🐝

Can we just talk about this entire scene? 2:21:48 Let me just say that I LOVE YHEM SO FREAKING MUCH!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! Secondly I just wanted to point out how Blake is so confident and assured in her feelings for Yang when Yang is usually the confident one. Here Yang is afraid of falling and what that means. Her line “I think I love you” shows how unsure she is of everything but is willing to do anything if Blake is there. Even her facial expressions shows that she wasn’t expecting Blake to say “I love you too”. Yang is so surprised by this because of how unsure and afraid she was. Yet there was Blake who was being patient, comforting, and supportive. These two really are the best couple and I can’t wait to see what comes next in volume 10.

The one major issue I have with vol.9 is Ruby's rushed character arc. Sure, I can buy her finally giving in to the pressure (we've seen some cracks in her confidence before), but her resolution was way too quick. During her ascendance, the only revelation was that her mother lied. And that somehow translates to her deciding to be herself again? What, they couldn't have made her learn a lesson? Like, showing her what other people have said about her when she wasn't there, so she realizes it doesn't matter that she keeps failing - what matters is that she keeps trying.

I'd say the lesson gained from the Summer memory is that heroes are people and not some golden perfection; that they do what they think they need to do. Like reaching out to Raven. Its also twofold in that it brings Raven back up to the audience (which may play a part in v10 or beyond) and giving some re-framing for her by showing her going on Summer's last known mission + her showing care for Tai and Yang but also her not being the settling down type. Also "rushed" isn't the term I'd use, cause Ruby's breakdown arc has been in place since v1 or 2 at least. Ever since Oz not only boosted her up 2 years but also set the stage to allowing her to become the team leader. Well-intentioned things on Oz's end but still putting massive weight on a 15 year old. I can already say that the easy go-to alt I can think of would get raked over coals, cause of "copying v6" in having various memories of Ruby's flash through her mind to remind her that her being her is what led to those things. But I also have no issue with how it was done, given that Ruby was basically given cosmic counseling that included being able to state things she never had been able to before. Namely her hopelessness, feeling of being lost, feeling of lacking, and the burden put on her shoulders to a third uninvolved party. The idea of having an entire episode around Ruby's issues in theory sounds good, in practice would be boring af to a portion of people (as evidenced by v4-5 which were more slow-paced dives into response to trauma and how they're treated as lesser than).

If those were the lessons, they should have been stated outright or made more obvious. But no, the only thing Ruby appeared to learn was that "she lied". Also she was miserable but after that one memory she found herself drawn to Crescent Rose and returned almost immediately, in full swing, like nothing ever happened. Not to mention Jaune went there too and despite serious mental issues he returned the same as before in a much shorter amount of time. There should have been an entire episode of the two of them with the Blacksmith, where they come to terms with their traumas one by one. Because you don't recover from stuff like this in 10 seconds. I know the tree was probably helping them but still. They made a huge deal about the whole process and NOTHING happened in there. They came out exactly the same. This SHOULD have been how Jaune became young again. That's who he needed to be. And the dagger thing should have been just a symbol to show what happened to Alex. (Let's be real - the Blacksmith is totally Alex, right?)

On top of that being pushed makes perfect sense given their histories and self-doubts as well as the inherent risk of going near the "friendship/romance line". If either of them had not felt the same or if they try a relationship and it weren't to work out it doesn't just wreck their freshly repaired relationship but spreads to the entire team. It makes sense for them to be as wary of it as they are and fits given that the god of the entire RWBY-verse is basically a cosmic counselor. Its also no different than two people that everyone knows have a thing for each other, being locked in a room by their friends to just come out with it in sitcoms.

Truth be told, I never heard of this show, let alone Rooster Teeth until 2017. I was watching a bunch of slo mo guys videos which linked to Gavins desk getting axkicked. I had to watch to binge watch from the beginning and by that time, it was in the middle of volume 5. From what I've seen, they were and are still polar opposites that balance each other out. Blake was so afraid of her past that she was reluctant to form attachments with others. Yang, despite her own past, was always looking for a blast and having fun. I didnt know how their relationship would play out. I was kind of hoping for more of a best friend bond and Sun be in the picture. But now, I think if Sun was there, it would complicate mending their broken trust and relationship for Yang. She already had her guard up when they reunited. The girls needed to confront Adam together. Once he was taken cared of, it allowed not only freedom of that demon, but opening up the emotions and thoughts that were hidden. I think they were able to find out what they truly mean to each other. And that bridge scene was a kind of perfect to allow feelings that may have developed for both of them to come out and just say it. This time, Blake being confident and not afraid, but Yang hesitating out of fear her love not being reciprocating. I think they are going to stay strong and equal to each other as they continue their pursuit to stop Salem.

Also, I know how Sun feels about Blake and as irritated as I was about him leaving, deep down, he must know what she feels for Yang. Even if she wasn't 100% sure what will play out at the time. I just hope that when Sun and Blake reunite, that they can maintain their friendship and he'll be supportive of Blake and Yang being a couple.

Watched this a million times and I still don't understand why Yang was reluctant to say, "I love you." After the Apathy drama, they seemed to be on the same page about they're feelings for each other. I guess it was just needed to be said for the audience. OAN as abusive and narcissistic as Adam was, his swag was on a thousand. Outfit, was pure perfection. I also like the irony of him having Yang and Blake's semblance.

Yang has massive self-value issues and issues with people sticking around, not to mention baggage for both involving those and differing relationships (Yang's with Raven; Blake's with Adam). On top of that there's the "friendship/romance line" that especially hits LGBT+ hard. Namely one can loose a friendship either from the awkwardness of a rejection or if an attempt is made and things don't work out, which is especially relevant given that the two had just finished repairing their relationship over v6 into 7. Which is even touched on by Harriet's commentary scoffing the notion of deeper bonds, between teammates than work. If you look at that scene, you'll notice that Yang and Blake both react to that statement in particular. All off that on top of Blake being the first attraction that Yang has ever felt towards another person as confirmed in commentary. All equals to 2 very traumatized LGBT+ girls that had just repaired their relationship not wanting to overstep and risk ruining it amplified by self-value issues.
