Fun with reven I think Tamasha is not your cup of tea and that’s not your fault because that movie is meant to be that way. People loved the Corsica part because it was fun and exciting and the true side of Ved but when Ved’s dull everyday life is shown people start finding it boring because it is meant to be boring. How do you show a boring life exciting and fun, you can’t. Tamasha is one of the best films I have ever watched, it made me cry, laugh and empathise with the characters. The screenplay, cinematography, the acting and the direction was all A+. The reason it didn’t do commercially well is because when people had heard about Ranbir-Deepika pairing, they expected it to be another yeh jawaani hai deewani but Imtiaz is much deeper than that. I am glad that a movie like that exists, it’s probably not meant for the general public like you and me but someone who loves studying films because it is very symbolically driven film.

I just watched his old Love Aaj Kal again and felt the film was as engaging, entertaining as I felt on the first occasion. The film had an average story but was presented brilliantly. I also felt Deepika's acting a little amateur but her silences (on plenty occasions) could be heard at screeming length and this was amazing. Also, this interview was worth watching.

Imtiaz Ali, I am glad you made JHMS. People love films, if they can connection. It was very unusual story. However, i could connect to it. Liked the simplicity of the story and dialogue (though dialogues had deep meaning, at least i felt). When character kharab teaser dropped, she sent me teaser and asked me to see. Similar thing happened. It was subtle, on the surface, but if you can connect, you will know what's going on. Thank you, Imtiaz. Good luck!

Wait a minute. In Ashwini Tiwari Ayer's 'Panga,' the male character just helps or guides the female protagonist. Why is the male character just there to help the female? Answer: because the male character is a supporting character. The lead is Kangana's character. Similarly, in Tamasha, the story is Ved's. Not Tara's. Tara is a supporting character. Stop bringing politics in cinema. Cinema reflects life. Life doesn't reflect cinema. Stop generalizing please.

I know most people hate JHMS but i loved it. I agree that the circumstances that the characters were in were a bit ridiculous, like "Sejal looking for her ring with a tour guide". That being said, Harry and Sejal were very real and pure in those circumstances and the way their characters developed feelings for each other was written very naturally. It's about two people finding what they didn't even know they wanted in the first place.

I personally feel, he shouldn't have made LoveAajkal. It was one of my favorite movie. The confusions regarding love the hurdles across time. I The story seemed so organic but the recent one look sort forced and half baked. Maybe I am just too attached to Love Aajkal 2009

No,You are true. Making Love aajkal 2 isn't a bad idea but the way it is made as shown in the trailer is not at all imtiaz kinda craft of portraying his stories.

IMTIAZ ALI said he aspires to be better at communicating the most meaningful things in the simplest way as his weakness is that he can't simplify what he wants to communicate and ..Answering to Anu's question - when Imtiaz defined what love meant to him........I realized...he knows himself pretty well...the complexity of his answer was EXHAUSTING to another level.

17:25 to 21:15 - he talks about the failure of JHMS. The sher he quotes says it all. He let the stardom and star power of SRK overwhelm his organic story telling, his vision and his conviction. This is the same period (2014 to 2019) when other directors as well relied on thin but interesting premises and Shahrukh instead of their organic, conviction filled storytelling and filmmaking. Rohit Shetty, Anand Rai, Maneesh Sharma and Imtiaz Ali. And not to mention how the audience has changed drastically in the last 5 years.

No he said clearly SRK was not involved in the process.
@KKG642
@KKG642 4 жыл бұрын
Kaustav Chatterjee I did not say SRK was involved or put pressure. When you have big stars, you as a filmmaker can make certain comfortable choices assuming star charisma or persona can make up for gaps in your vision. Hence the sher that Imtiaz quoted.
