Its impossible not to sleep through. Back in my teenage years i was joining a semi-military group, at one time we had pratice on a mountain that forced to me to endure 3 sleepless days yet on the 4th day i fall asleep while standing. Your body will simply do thing to protect you from any harm.
@jackandblaze59562 жыл бұрын
I used to have panic attacks created by nightmares that happened the minute I fell asleep so of course I wasn't able to sleep for many days in a row. It was beginning to cause hallucinations. During the day at work or when driving I realized that I could close one eye and not move that same side of my body at all for 10 minutes to get some relief. Then I would switch sides. After doing that a few times I felt better. I could feel the hallucinations and nightmares "unwinding" in my head, but they were unable to take over that way. Eventually I accidentally discovered that I could sleep peacefully as long as someone else was sleeping in the same room.

I thought they might include the news in the end, of possible war in Korea. Showing that while they are rid of the virus, this means that the usual problems will remain. But Isaac Asimov included this in some of his sci-fi novels: an alien form of life controlling the larger life forms on their planet, for total peace, where nothing ever develops because no one feels the need to compete. Life will never reach the stars, and won't survive in the distant future. He concluded that a world with the instinct for competition was better, even though it also leads to strife.

Honestly, I would say that one of the functions of this "virus," rather, bacterium, is to prevent a person's "fight or flight" system from kicking in, among other neurochemical receptors, given human beings experience emotion because of the neurochemicals our brains and bodies create. However, the lack of sleep would doom humanity, as we can not go longer than three weeks without sleep. When that happens, we suffer psychotic breaks and we no longer recognize what is reality and what isn't.

Nah, not bacteria. It seems more like a fungus. Probably the closest on earth is Ophiocordyseps unilaterialis. Cordyseps are able to mindcontrol insects. F.e. they make ants to climb up trees and stay there, high above the ground, until the fungus burst out of their bodies and can spread it's spores over a larger area. So for me, the mindcontrol thing looks more like a fungus 🤷♂️
@birdsascarnage10 ай бұрын
Worst than that, there's an actual fatal disease that will 100 percent kill you: Fatal familial insomnia (FFI) is a rare genetic condition that causes progressively worsening insomnia - an inability to sleep. The insomnia worsens to the point that it severely impacts daily functioning, eventually causing coma and then death.

When I was young, I watched a horror zombie film similar in premise to this one - if you fall asleep, you become one of them. The final scene ends with one of the humans who made it through the night greeting a friend who was thought to have sacrificed herself, but the friend simply screams (indicating she had turned into one of them) and the movie ends. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find any trace of the movie on the internet. If anyone knows the name of the film, do let me know!

I love that I know I would’ve been one of the immune since I have a brain tumour that way I can overthink how I’d try to survive this wildly unrealistic situation lol.
