right after graduation 2015, a girl was killed in a plane crash along with her parents. she was such a prominent member of the band and the school and her parents were the sweetest. at the 2016 spring concert, the symphonic band dedicated this song to her because she was in that band and she loved how gentle the west texas rains can be. let me tell you, this recording does not do this song justice. the emotion they played with and the musicality they used was overwhelming. it's honestly one of the most beautiful pieces i have ever heard.

Yeah we have a violist playing the solo here and it has so much of a better sound because she puts her heart and soul into it. That's what we need, don't just be accurate, enjoy the piece and understand it's intentions

One of my students performed on the world premiere of this piece, and am listening to it while I reflect on the impact Robert W. Smith had on the lives of so many young musicians. God bless and thank you for your music! The world is a little sadder place without you,

It is currently 3:20 am and I have finally found this song. This was the final piece I played in High school (flugelhorn solo) a few years ago. Also the final piece my band teacher conducted before retiring. I remember playing those final notes with all my heart and I still well up as the song fades away.

I love this :) we did this song Mt freshman year for marching band, our director had a saxophone solo and a mellophone solo. I loved it so much and it was an amazing time to be in band with everything I had going on in life...band was my strength. I need to get it back :( I haven't played in years, while my French horn collects dust in my attic. Time to bring her back out :)

We’re playing this for my spring concert in a few weeks before summer, it’s my first year of High School band and I’m sad that it’s ending, marching, UIL, concerts, Solo and Ensemble Festival, all of it. When we practice this song in rehearsals, it makes me feel so calm and gives me goosebumps, it’s an amazing piece.
