It happens but not nearly as often as people think and raising a child who views the world as a very scary place is a form of abuse IMO. I have a special needs child. When he was about 10 he was at the city park in our small town being supervised by his usual sitters nerdy looking boyfriend. My son, Alex, was very aware that he’s no supposed to video anyone without permission (although by law if you are in a public space you do not have an expectation of privacy ) . When the playground had cleared out he asked his sitter to video him going down the slides. About 10 minutes later, two police cars showed up because a little girl (about 7) had gone running to tell her parents she was being videotaped. Without bothering to investigate at all, they called the police. The cops left after they were shown there were no videos of anyone other than my son (again, by law there should not have been a problem even if there were). The psychological damage that is caused by such paranoid parents instilling that level of fear in such a young child makes me cringe. I am extremely grateful that my parents had the courage to raise us in downtown Chicago in the 60’s and 70’s without making us fear a bogeyman around every corner.

I don’t understand why people talk so good about this ridiculous movie, how can a strange lady manages to make a man do whatever she wants? He is not her husband, or friend, and she is so calm down, is her own daughter and not only one tear for her own little child, poor man gets beat so many times for being at the wrong place with a woman who forces him do things for her

Urich as 'Jack Bauer', and Meghan Gallagher as the mother who almost lost her child to kidnappers, 'Laura McKillin', quite capably carry the very entertaining movie. Sure the movie is from the '90s, a time when life was slightly simpler, and the movie shows this. Here's this busy successful businessman who takes the time to help this waitress mother find her kidnapped child. Nice message. How many of us would take time from our busy lives to help a complete stranger? The movie ends very unlike a Hollywood movie. Urich does not end up in bed amorously loving the mother he helped, becoming the little saved girl's surrogate father, nor does he exactly hook up with his old girl friend, 'Kate' (Isabella Hofmann). The story is left comfortably "in the air" for the observer to figure it out (without giving too much away). Pretty good "feel good" movie.
