I took my son and as he's walking toward the house in the, maybe, 2nd scene of the movie he looks over to me and said "Oh, my god! He's just walking! He better not walk all the way to that house." Now, we walk into all of our horror movies blind because what people like is so so so different for everyone. Little did I know I was watching Friday The 13th part 13 Jason Take A Hike. I can't say it only got worse from there, it only got the same from there. It's just walking. A couple kills, no scares, no music, not much dialogue. It was like you're playing the Friday the 13th game for PS4 but you can't teleport or run. You just walk. I hope Johnny got a blister. It's the least interesting movie I've ever seen.

Thank you for keeping it real. No bullshit and just saying it how it is. I hate when so many people try to play devils advocate for movies just because “it’s the horror genre”. I get we should all be critical in fair ways but man. People should be more honest and just call it like it is. Props. I’ll wait until streaming lol.

I seem to be one of the few (along with you, apparently) who was actually a little underwhelmed with the kills. I watched a lot of spoiler-free reviews of this film before seeing it, and the consensus seemed to be it had unreal kills and gore. The yoga kill was very unique and gross, but aside from that I didn’t think it delivered all that much. I actually didn’t mind the walking scenes, I know a lot of people said it felt so long and drawn out, but i really didn’t mind that. I wanted more of everything else. I felt kind of confused with the ending, I remember thinking “am I missing something? Is there something really deep here that’s over my head?” I may give this a 2nd watch on Shudder when it comes, to see if I enjoy it a little more, but ultimately for a movie that I do think had a cool concept, I thought it was underwhelming overall.

Its a new way of storytelling. Now someone else can come along and make this style of film better. I dont get it. It's not the innovations that people are pissed about, it's the innovations which were the focus of the film, not the plot, if it even had one, besides "talisman gets stolen and now the dead guy seeks revenge" cliche. Really, there was nothing innovative about the movie. Maniac (2012) did the POV Slasher genre 10x better than this film did. Quit gaslighting for bad movies. Hell, even DOOM (2005) was better. Hey, it's just my opinion, so you do you.

I left not knowing whether I liked it, but looking back I dig it. I'm still thinking about it after all. PROS • Cool, if not super original antagonist design • New way of seeing an old concept that has been executed to death • Beautiful scenery and cinematography imo • Multiple cool, gory, pretty original deaths CONS • Stretches of boring down time, albeit coming from a commitment to concept • Some not so stellar acting, but I didn't care • No real attachment to any characters I would recommend this movie, and I'm glad I saw it in theaters. But I can see why it's not everyone's cup of tea.

Hey. I saw this opening night last Thursday. I was very excited to see it. I love F13th movies , this looked like it was following that path , so I was all in. Well, they definitely took a lot of F13th liberties with this movie . Johnny might as well be Jason's cousin Johnny Voorhees. The locket with his mom's picture in it taken from the Friday remake. Johnny buried and coming back to life, Friday 6. The woods, the lake, the cabin, etc, etc , lol. Even has Vickie, from Friday the 13th part 2 in the movie , lol. She is the woman in the truck. I did appreciate some of the kill scenes, I was particularly watching the actors eyes, to see when or if they cut away to a dummy or something , but I never did see that. I didn't care at all about any of the characters in this movie . It didn't let you get to know anyone, and what it did show of anyone, they were just not likeable. Now ,this was predictable, but I did like the selfie photo scene at the camp fire with Johnny lurking in the background, lol. I woukd have liked to have SEEN them discover that in the photo rather than hearing them talk about it through the outside of the log cabin, lol. The final scene, the truck ride , if something would have happend here , it would have probably made me given this movie a little higher score , but like you, I sat there , saying , ok, she is in on it, ok, he is in the back, oh ok, he is gonna come through the woods now, any minute now, yeap, I think I see him, is thst him, nope, just wishful thinking , the end . So I gave it a 5/10. I do think it's worth watching for yourself, it does have some redeeming qualities, but most of this movie is the back of Johnny , crunching his way through the forest, cleared out areas, forest, and more forest .

I was not bored by this at all. I think it's a polarizing film you either love the style and mythology and how it's given in a different way or you don't. To me the last 15 is such a great twist...it reminded me of how the Kevin Smith film Red State should have ended

@@SPACE-98 The last scene in the film is the car ride home so they change perspective from the Killer to the final girl. And she's just riding and hearing a story and the audience is waiting to see if the Killer is going to show up. Some people could be bored by that but I enjoyed the tension builder because it was so different from the rest of the film. They kept creative ways to explore and tell this Slasher story that I enjoyed.

@@Betared2003 I agree that it was a subversive move to do that but it kinda felt outta place for me…I kinda wish that type of dialogue was more sprinkled throughout and it had better characters and I feel it would have hit harder for me… and even though I’m cool with Johnny not showing back up to kill our hero, I wish there was a bit more shown of his character in the ending, even if it wasn’t resolution of any kind…also the whole sequence with the boyfriend dying at the end mixed with the plan to burn or whatever they were gonna do with the gasoline felt shoddy and kind of confusing how it played out… over alll tho upon thinking about it overnight I do like it more than when it ended initially
