Hikaru, I know it seems like the ability to recall a position from a game is ordinary, but to many reasonable people, it is an impressive skill. I suppose it may be similar to the ability for people to remember faces by seeing a picture or someone you saw once, or recalling lines from a relatively obscure film or song. However, to us, we see something unimaginably difficult, and it is incredible. I'm just scraping 1500 in rapid, and I struggle to remember opening sequences, and my tactics are mediocre at best. So seeing you play chess and recalling these relatively obscure things is like watching a superhero with superpowers do superhero things.
