Correct me if my memory is mistaken, but Zack wasn’t there that long in Nibelheim and, while he did take the photo with her, I don’t know if they interacted much, compared to Cloud, who Tifa knew since childhood and they shared that promise on the water tower. Admittedly, they weren’t all that close, either, but how much younger Tifa was at the time and Cloud being there for much longer would mean to me her connection with Cloud would be much closer than with Zack

Seeing Zack and Cloud finally get to team up as big sword bois and technically exist in the same world is so unbelievably amazing The synced scene of them both bringing the sword up to recite that Angeal oath was fucking perfect. Zack being overjoyed at this "take charge" Cloud during their Sephiroth phase was adorable because Gongaga Guys getting to see what he always saw under the surface. I look dearly forward to him fully joining the heroes to some extent in the finale per his determination to find a way to them, now that he knows its possible to reunite.

But i really like him because if you do the effort of looking, he clearly has more to offer than just being a moody (cloudy x)) character. I don't really want to see, aerithxtifa or cloudxzack or heck even cloudxsephiroth in canon (even though i would scream if this would happen) Because they are supposed to be already written character with their own love story. and in my opinion it would just feel (weirdly) like they got into diverce just to marry their best friend. It's clearly a personal opinion, but i really like seeing ship in the fandom. and creativity from the fans rather than see canon just trashing it's own story. Kinda like remakes do just to please some clans rather than really trying to be coherent and good at writing. (the only remake i really appreciate is the "She-ra" remake which ended pretty wholesome.)

I remember this fan manga about zack wound up back at midgar instead of cloud. Cloud mysteriously disappeared and didnt meet the party until the northern crater. He became a total mind slave of sephiroth like the other sephy clones found throughout the game, and fought zack at the crater
