or simply install a booth, and pay someone to rake in the dough.....I know in downtown toronto they were knocking buildings down because they could make more money as a parking lot than having to pay taxes etc on an empty building.....(this was in the late 80's when there was a glut of office space in the core). To buy a spot about 2 miles east of the core, they were selling from between $75,000.00 to $100,000.00 a spot....

Who knows, maybe the parking structure is unsafe to use. Maybe they are preparing to tear it down and put something else in it's place, maybe the lawsuit mentioned is still ongoing and while it's being litigated the property cannot be used for liability reasons, plenty of reasons why it could be blocked off.

There is a little more to it than just putting in a toll booth, for instance, to charge for parking one needs to get a permit from the town/city which they plan to charge in. Also there are requirements for insurance and liability should something happen. I'm sure taxes and such will also apply. Thats a lot of money to shell out for a property you plan to sell. As for "holes" take a closer look at the video and you will find the poles are bolted in, not cemented. Remove the 4 bolts and pole is gone with little to no repairs needed [bolt holes can remain open to weather, dirt will eventually fill them in]

My guess is that if the property owner is willing to pay thousands of dollars for poles to be put in at ever parking spot, he is more than willing to pay a towing company to load your bike onto a flatbed and haul it to the impound.

Or park on the footpath (legalover here, withi reasons) right under a security camera. A local council once was determined to stop it, forcing motorcyclists to park in car spaces. Motorcycle riders got wind of it and parked one bike per space for the better part of the day. The idea was dropped immediately afterwards. And no they do not obstruct the foot path or man holes or other infrastructure. Those are still illegal.

One time when I worked in construction we were refurbishing this bumper manufacturer (back when car bumpers were chromed steel) ... I parked in no parking all week, then Friday someone fork-lifted a 300 pound steel basket (that was for moving and storing bumpers) RIGHT in front of my car (A 1974 Dodge Swinger) ... I got in calmly (people were watching) and pretended nothing was unusual ... started my car and pushed the basket right into the middle of the street... backed up and drove home! :)

This is literally what the parents dropping their kids off at the school next door to me do. They are too lazy to park 50 feet down the road, and they are mad the school doesn't have a parking lot, so they park in my driveway every morning. I finally had to put cinder blocks out. Both of the owners who had lawsuits against each other dropped their lawsuits. Which means the owners have the money they wanted, or felt that could get from the legal standing they had.
