I saw her response video. She makes a good argument for herself, except I would never go hands on and try to physically block him (unless I saw someone about to harm another, then I will step in and try to help usually) She did. I think she's a little toasted and she meant to follow the rules by challenging someone trying to enter without a key fob. We don't see the video he shot before, so it's possible he was out of line too and he just edited that part out to save face. I think she realized he was telling the truth about half way through the encounter and was trying to do damage control but making it worse. She comes across like a lonely woman reaching out for the first warm body that came by. This is made even moire plausible when she revealed she was previously married to a black man. So I'm calling it a strict approach to the numerous letters from the office urging her to do just what she did; challenge anyone she doesn't know trying to get in. Coupled with some wine perhaps. It sounds like a wine buzz. Coupled with maybe she was attracted and hoped he did live there so they could meet.

KD Wells, at the :50 mark of this video, he mentions he buzzed himself in. The newscaster also mentions that a FOB was shown (in other videos, you can hear him jingling his keys/FOB in the air and her ignoring seeing it). In reality (from what I gather from other videos), he buzzed himself in out of habit but the door was already ajar (because she had it open for her dog) so he then proceeded to enter. She ignored him fob'ing the door. She ignored him showing his keys/fob. And in the elevator ride up to his apartment, she kept asking for the name of the friend he was visiting even though he repeatedly told her he lived there and wasn't visiting someone. She was just set in her belief that he didn't belong there and nothing he could say or do (buzzing himself in before entering, showing his fob to her, unlocking his apartment with his key) could get her to stop. Her behavior was inexcusably out of line but she's too dumb and arrogant to admit it and apologize for it.

You people are so fast to judge. (I shall say that blocking the way is just weird and maybe a misuse of female "untouchableness", but I guess it's something you do when you feel protective about something.) Possibly, black people are underrepresented in this luxury appartment, hence her suspicion. Just like many police officers, her suspicion is based on her statistical experience. Bias/judgement on human appearance based on statistical experience is very problematic and should not be tolerated, but it's also very human and every human does it intuitively. Humans are flawed in countless ways and so is everyone reading this. This woman should be required to show a readiness to learn and should face consequences if she doesn't, but just from the video that we have seen, it's odd how many people demonize her.

If he used 1 sec on this, that would have been all. Easy peasy. Instead he chooses to refuse, lie and push himself. He knows or should know that she is following house rules. We have the same practice where i live. U need to use or show your key, cause we dont let strangers into the building. Keeping it safe where we live. And race is no concern, we see individuals.
@earthman70884 жыл бұрын
Erik Hasselberg at the same time don’t confuse what your building does with other buildings. It would be a different story if he was a member of that community that had that rule and he didn’t want to do so but seeing as this story and facts presents don’t have that as the case then he was not obligated to tell this lady any information. Everybody in this nation has the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and he has the right to privacy about where he lives and who he gives information to. This lady was not the owner of the complex and did not handle the situation correctly and now is highly embarrassed by it. I’m not hating on you and the system you use but don’t assume just because you have a system that works for you means that it applies everywhere and someone should just let their right to privacy be violated.

You're all racists because you see the world through a racial lens. A non-racist person does not see race nor recognize so-called race. If you do indeed recognize race then the real question is WHO are you racist against and WHO are you racist in favor of? Racism will continue to exist in one form or another for as long as people identify people by race. That's right, merely recognizing race makes you a racist. In this example, CBS is racist by labeling the man as "black man" and the woman as "white woman" instead of identifying them as "man" and "woman". The real truth is, neither one of them are black and neither one of them are white. CBS is guilty of causing division and promoting racism - something all liberal and Democrat leaders are guilty of.

Races do exist just like different races of animals exist. Because our skin tone and physical attributes have more similarities with people who come from the same place. Not everyone is from the same place. Thats how race works. Its not racist to call a black man black or a white man white. Its only racist if you put a negative perspective on it solely based on their race. Stop trying to make everything sound racist. D'Arreion Nuriyah Toles was in the wrong. He tried to go into the building when she was holding the door open for her dog. It's NOT OK just to walk into the building when another resident opens the door. She was just doing what the condo board instructed tenants to do. They sent out an email saying " NEVER ALLOW SOMEONE TO ENTER WHEN YOU ENTER OR EXIT " You shouldn't put people in a position of them being responsible for you gaining access to the building. He could have just waited ONE SECOND and entered the building with his own key. Etiquette and safety dictate that you use your own key to gain access to the building, otherwise, any stranger can just use a resident to gain access to a building. It is shameful that D'Arreion Nuriyah Toles turned this into a racial incident and getting a woman fired who was just trying to keep a stranger from gaining access to the building without using a key. If you watch the video, she says "use the keypad." WHY couldn't he do that? On top of trying to use her to gain access, he refused to say what unit he lived in! It is sad that so many people are condoning Tole's actions and condemning this woman. She didn't deserve to be fired.

This happens in some form or fashion, everyday Somewhere USA! If he were a white guy, she would never have questioned him, but because he was not she decided to be law enforcement. If someone was entering behind me, I would not expect then to allow it to close then open it. So if you live in a gated community, you should block the entry until the gate closes and let your neighbor open it with their remote? No, it’s courtesy. That courtesy must be extended to all or your biases will dictate how you respond.

I've gone to visit people and had residents of the building open the door for me to get in. Nobody asked if I lived there or asked me anything at all. If I were a black man, nobody'd be opening that door for me.

Also the idea of telling a total stranger what apartment I live at every time they ask me sounds incredibly dangerous. I know she most likely wouldn't do anything dangerous or illegal to him in his own home, but he doesn't know that in the moment. The idea of telling just any stranger where I live because they demand to know is insane to me and I would never do it. Idc if we live in the same complex of building, you don't need to know where I live. Like wow.
