Cold tires on an outlap. He's sawing the wheel back and forth like that to help build up some temperature.

@djackson111 Its a warm up lap not a race as it says in the description. And out on cold tyres and brakes, the GT had probably been out longer and could go into that corner faster.

With a racing transmission, you can upshift without using the clutch. It cuts the ignition. Downshifting though, you have to use the clutch.

an automatic one is where you don't have to press your foot on the pedal to release the clutch. in order to put it in the next gear. it automatically does that.

it has shiftcut on upshift. so the ECU cuts the ignition for point something of a second so he can pull the next gear. its not really an automatic clutch because he pretty much just smashes it in to gear. Porsche GT3 cars have them and so do V8 supercars

he's not using the clutch on downshifts either. notice that he's left foot braking. the clutch is only used to start from a standstill, and at 1:45 he uses it to spin up the rear tires to warm them.

I've always wondered why we very rarely saw this car in the now defunct GT1 category in Le Mans. Or any of the FIA GT1 cars for that matter. Do build regulations differ between the FIA and IMSA?

Tell ya right now, if that small monitor at the top of the roof is taking the place of the regular rear view mirror, I really want one of those...LOL, I guess during the pit stops, by rules, you are required to shut down the engine, then restart it as soon the pit crew members are finished doing everything, tires, fuel, etc......

ohh man! those new fancy touch panel fuel pump and starter switches does not work well in the racing world(but they do looks nice.) The older style toggle switch and push button are better to work with, specially with the gloves. You well lost at least one second if the starter switch don't engage right away. :-)

was watching his left foot, and it really seemed like that whenever he shifted gears he never really pressed down on any Clutch pedal, is this true, and if so, never knew there was such a clutch system that you could actually shift gears without the use of a actual clutch pedal....

Andrew Silva it's called a sequential gearbox, same as paddle shifters on modern road cars

funny way of holding a steering wheel, when on corners he takes his thumb off the wheel and pushes with his palm to turn the wheel. the outside hand doesnt really "hold" the wheel.
