I was in Aswan the Nubian Village in June and we loved it! The Mövenpick was a beautiful hotel. We took the Mövenpick cruise ship, the Royal Lilly, on the Nile. I went with a church in Houston, TX. A Black-owned travel company, Maxium Impact set up the Egypt trip. We were in Cairo, Luxor, and Aswan. We had a great time learning about our culture and Whiteness is not centered. We had people from 25 to 82 years old and those people in their 70s and 80s were just as anxious, energetic, and eager to head out for the activities. The day started at 6am because it was 110+ degrees, we started early to beat the heat and most of us went to bed around 9pm or 11pm, playing Spades and Dominoes on the Sundeck by the pool and the View was beautiful up on the deck. It was an amazing and experiencd. Our guides met us in the Cairo and said they said, "Welcome Back Home, cousins". Kemet welcomes you back from the Land you were stolen from, that almost had me in tears and Egypt or Kemet did feel eerily familiar and like home.

Thank you Dr Carr and professor Hunter for sharing the knowledge of the journey and existence of our people in the motherland . Growing up in the Caribbean we were taught that England was the “ motherland “ . It took so many decades of my life to learn that was a farce. Listening to you two professors for the last four years have given me so much knowledge about our ancestors that I really and truly feel so much more empowered as I navigate my senior years.

6:07, “haven’t played the game since my father passed” - made me tear up. Dad passed in 1995 & taught my five siblings and I every card game that Black folks played - Bid Whist included. Miss you Dad and those card games! Gotta stop now because the tears won’t.

LOVED this episode so much💖 Wish I was there, Dr. Carr, but I'm so grateful for the knowledge you dropped today, as always. Safe travels, keep hydrating, resting and get home safe. Prof, I really, REALLY want to thank you for the apology you shared the other day about judging Imane Khelif and misgendering her. The vitriolic firehose of bigoted hatred being heaped on her has been beyond disturbing and staggering. I can't help but say, I've been a faithful Urban View listener of your show for many years now and hearing you misgender her recently hurt me to my soul. I was at a point where I nearly decided to stop listening to your show because of that and the bigoted responses in the clip you later posted. I have a dear best friend and a beloved elder family member with varied differences in sexual development. Both were raised as females but still encounter tremendous prejudice and misgendering from the outside world. I'm so thankful that listener wrote you about her own struggle and shared factual information with you. Far too many people hold such deep ignorance of this condition and have no compassion or empathy for the women who live with it. As Black women, so MANY of us are frequently masculinized and misgendered by the white gaze more than any white woman ever experiences. This can't ever be called out loud enough. Even Michelle Obama wasn't spared from this bigoted treatment. It's so crucial for all of us to be aware of our own biases and snap judgements about others. Imane has been going thru absolute hell. My friend and family member live thru their own long-running daily hell of constantly feeling like they have to prove themselves as the women they truly are. It's past time for people to educate themselves with facts and awareness. I really do hope you stay true to your promise to do a show(s) with some experts who will shine light on the realities of varied differences in sexual development -- maybe even Dr. Hudson or someone else in the know from Hood Medicine?? Thank you again for airing your apology and respect for Imane and sharing that letter from the listener. I look so forward to listening to your show every day. Please keep shining light in the dark. Have a blessed, relaxing weekend.

I’m a new listener to Knarrative, but long time listener to Karen Hunter on Sirius XM. I love learning more about my history. It just kind of made me think that if we were to “go back to Africa” and become a force to be reckoned with, “they” would try that colonization thing again…like China is doing.

After listening to this lesson I still feel people are good and evil. We're made in God's image so God must be both good and evil. Since God created people. So war will always be with us. My prayers for peace will never happen. Egyptians, Greeks, Asians and European people are all good and evil. People with never stop fighting. Maybe we can just get along and work together to make life easier if we try to appreciate the good things that we do and put together as community. Let's work together to make our community better in the United States of America where we live.

@TheEncyclopediaBrown3 ай бұрын
We did very thoroughgoing discussions of the origins, meaning and work of Black August in 2020 and 2021. We also focused specifically on George Jackson’s life and work, including his books. We will mention these specific sessions later in the month when we return to the US. Thanks for the critically important acknowledgement! Those earlier sessions are archived on Prof Hunter’s KZbin Channel as well as the Knarrative platform. Check out sessions 74 and 126, especially the former.
