We pay twice as much for much less. The problem is the profit. The ACA reduced the Insurance companies profit margin to 35%. It had been higher, but no one knows how much higher because the financial workings of insurance companies were entirely private before the ACA. Getting rid of the bloated profits of the private health insurance industry will save us money.

@@TheRenaSystem Sure. Got a few minutes? Ever hear of Karl Marx? Here's a little history in Little Robert Reich - often exactly the person he claims to despise. He dabbles in conspiracy theories, utters egregious falsehoods about the economy and engages in acts that reek of hypocrisy. Just as an example, Reich repeatedly blathers about the horrors of income inequality while, at the same time, collecting a paycheck well north of $500,00 plus speaking fees and book income - earning substantially more than the average American CEO who, in his opinion, are profiting off the backs of the working class. The problem with him and many other critics of capitalism is that they tend to be pretty rich themselves. After the riots in heavily immigrant communities of Sweden in 2017, Reich put the following message on his Twitter page: “Trump’s lies have consequences. 48 hrs after his comments on Sweden, riots broke out in an immigrant community.” Take a moment to appreciate just how ridiculous his comment was. He contends that a foreign nation’s president’s comments were so inflammatory that these poor communities felt compelled to engage in mass violence. The issue with the argument that our “racism” causes immigrants, people of color, Muslims, (insert victim group here) to riot is that it assumes that these communities are on the very precipice of violent behavior and one triggering event is all it takes for them to explode in heinous acts. This is what is commonly described as “the bigotry of low expectations.” How about the false claims he makes about the economy (you know....the discipline he teaches at the premier public university in the world.) Reich published an article in Salon stating that greedy capitalists had forgotten the “basic bargain at the heart of America” where employers paid employees enough to purchase the product they are selling. He claims that the recession of 1929 was caused by most of the economic gains going to rich elite (people like Reich himself) and not to the workers. A more articulate description of his argument is found in Karl Marx’s “Das Kapital.” This is an explicit falsehood. One brief look at the Historical Statistics of the USA would tell you that, in the years leading up to the Great Depression, wages across the board increased. In fact, labor’s share of the national economy has risen in the years leading up to practically every recession and has fallen during recoveries, relative to the share of the capital. This basic fact of Macroeconomics 101 is something that college freshmen understand - but seems to need to be explained to Professor Reich.

@@fritzforsthoefel8031 The problem is that a few rich people now get 500 to 1000 times more money than regular people, just because they can, and they did not earn it, and so they should pay more taxes so that the regular people can get what they really earn. We have a big debt because of tax cuts for the rich. People who need more help from the government today, need it because of this great inequality in our economy. A few CEOs and financiers get many millions every year while wage earners and small businesses get a pittance, thanks to failure to enact minimum wage laws and higher taxes on the rich. Some rich people are Democrats willing to pay, but it is the rich of any or no Party who need to pay more taxes, and pay their workers more too. The rich are not job creaters; people who buy things are. If no-one has any money, who will buy the stuff that these companies owned by rich people make? Our economy is socialism for the rich. Don't believe the lies. Listen to Nick Hanauer and Thom Hartmann.
