According to the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism, in 2021 there was a 339% increase in anti-Asian hate crimes in the U.S. The factors behind the increase in anti-Asian hate and their impact on communities were the subject of a June 28, 2022, conversation with experts Connie Chung Joe and Russell Jeung, moderated by USC Gould Professor Emily Ryo. The group, hosted by the USC Gould Alumni Association, looked at how cases are being addressed in the courts, by the police and in the public square.
