Being African doesn't mean we should sever everything to do with the English language/culture..In fat ,imo,English is now a part of the Zimbabwean identity he's so passionate about..The identity of a Zimbabwean from before colonization is very different from today's Zimbabwean..Because today's Zimbabwean has a part of him,culturally, that's English..Being African doesn't necessarily mean that you have absolutely nothing in common with the English culture..imo.

Well as long as Shona (majority language) is the national language of Zimbabwe is not accepted as such there will always be a problem. Ndebele is a predominantly South African language.

Colonialism had good and bad aspects..Let's not act like EVERYTHING about colonialism was bad.... When you adopt n become familiar with a language, you also adopt the culture..Bcz you can not separate language and culture..Zimbabweans naming their children English names is a good example of it..Zimbabweans have a part of them that is English..Bcz the English language,hence English culture,is part of who they are now..Shingie believes,mistakenly,that English is a completely foreign thing and Zimbabweans can ,and have to,completely separate them from anything culturally English..
