I love this album, and find the hate to be unfounded. I shoplifted this tape as a kid back in like '92, and I've never turned on it. It's a front to back winner.

It’s different, but I agree it doesn’t deserve the hate it gets.

I was in my late teens when this album came out - I loved it back then and I still do! ❤ It is a dancefloor album alright, but an excellent one! 👍

Well done! I agree 100% that this album has so much to offer but many fans' minds are closed to it.

Great video! A couple of points I'd like to bring up: "Dancer" has one of Brian's best guitar orchestration solos, and also it sounds like Billy Squier's Mack-produced songs of the same period. (Billy Squier will have his own troubles later in the decade, but in 1982 he could do no wrong.) "Back Chat" is an excellent follow-up to "Another One Bites the Dust" without sounding exactly like it. Everyone complained about "Body Language" when this album came out, but people were mostly silent when "Get Down, Make Love" (a similar track) came out five years earlier.

You don't have to defend this album. There's nothing wrong with it. Has great songs, awesome songs and represents one of the bests bands ever. Nobody is perfect.

I agree it’s a good album, but it gets so much hate, that’s why I did the episode.

In my opinion, as a massive Queen fan, Hot Space is better than A Kind of Magic, The Miracle and Made in Heaven. I love it!

The hippie Jamiroquai defends Hot Space…and I actually have to…agree. I used to despise this album, except for Under Pressure which is amazing. But, I’ve softened. There’s some really good songs on it, and while it’s definitely not their best, I do agree that at the very least it’s definitely better than most people think.

Awesome take, sir! I find Back Chat is just as much of an earworm as Under Pressure. Most say the gold is heavy on Side 2, but I choose Side 1 by a large margin.

Opinions suck! But I do love this album ;)

I agree with you, “Hot Space” is a super underrated album and it’s completely different from Queen’s other music but in a good way. 😀👍

@@bicyclelegsmusic No worries, oh and I’ve updated my Level 42 album ranking list if you would like to check it out. 😀👍

It is definitely not their best album but it's queen having a fun stab at dance rock and it's just a fun party album and although it wasn't a good experiment for the band it's just a fun 80s album

Somebody to love was a soul song. What are you saying?
@bicyclelegsmusic Жыл бұрын
I would call Somebody To Love more gospel than soul, but it’s still more in the Queen tradition sound wise than Cool Cat is.

I love that album! I'll take it over The Works, A Kind of Magic and The Miracle. Body Language is a terrible song, but the rest is really good and interesting. Dancer is one my fav Queen songs ever (listen to that crashing cymbal near the end of the song!!!). Cheers.
