I’d like to add something,tails’s model was also redone for sonic 2, his model in sonic 1’s post credit scene is rly different to his sonic 2 rig(this is for people who probably don’t know this by the way not to normie)

I’ve heard that Tails’s model in the first movie was a HEAVY retool of Sonic’s model, similar to how Shadow was a retexture of Super Sonic in the second

I thought that the CGI for the Sonic Movieverse was probably the most praised part. Even the people that absolutely hated the Knuckles show thought the VFX characters looked pretty good, especially for a TV show.

I'll just say that in knuckles, when he is sitting at wade's family dinner table, his feet look like PS2 models for the way they're lit, but yeah everything else was crisp as far as I could tell

I never got why people hate the movie Sonic design and it’s cgi Hell the visuals are like my favorite parts of the films aside from the plot . They look real nice, especially when they try to recreate existing sonic areas like labyrinth zone .

OHH i looooved this video 1- really good to know that my own observations of the cgi and like colorgrading shit on the sonic movies werent just me being crazy. 2- YES THANK YOU, KNUCKLES had realy nice cgi and vfx! knuckles looks great :D Im super interested in movie producion and things alike, i want to work in the industry and this video helped fuel the fire in me to pursue this dream. keep it up!!!

Another thing I'd like to add. People say that the scenes in the trailer were the only finished ones, but that seems to only be mostly true. Pat Casey in an interview did say the baseball scene was made with the original design, so I'm gonna assume that was also finished.

ok, since we're bringing this back up all of a sudden, I'm going to say it. I honestly loved the trailer in 2019! Everyone flamed me for liking the shade of color and the details to his model. I even liked the Gantsa's paradise and him seemingly ready to save the planet. In due time, the backlash for his design was national news and at that point as a business decision you would be forced to change the design. I'm glad they did it and the franchise is now successful. I just wish people would not bring up the past and struggles paramount went through to make sure their investment thrived. Let's just enjoy the franchise now, ok?

Honestly in some of the scenes of the first 2 movies the animation feels as robotic as early episodes of the first season of sonic boom.

I think the video is mostly fine, some jokes are more annoying then funny (like telling the audience to uh 'go meet god' is an annoying joke and reminds me of how youtubers used to always mock the audience if they don't agree with them... Thats one thing from past KZbin I don't miss) and I do feel you assume a bit too much of your audience. What If I want to hear you talk all about the lighting in the Sonic movie, have you considered that :P? What if I find the details behind film making and what does and doesn't work interesting? Just a few things to consider.

Honestly, they should've just ported the modern game models and added all the HD textures n fur and such so it's still the same style as the game design yet fits the movie. That would've worked so much better
