There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

I've got a spartan kg I paid 11500 out the door . I think for the money the spartan is the right choice. Unless you're needing it for mowing wetlands or something

My company bought one and I used it to do retention ponds I had it for 450 hours all three spindles seized up on me it's in the double belt system to drive the machine I did not care for her because it was a pain in the rear to change the belt or replace the belt get to take all kinds of stuff off just to get to the belt and it was still hard to change but the machine is a beast they're just little odds that can be fixed and it would make an awesome machine like the spindles were supposed to be waterproof and they weren't they totally rusted at 450 hours

I have two of them and there were several modifications that I had to do to them, one was putting grease zerks on the spindles, five years later and still no spindles problems.

I love the build quality and look of the altoz and spartan mowers but the prices on those altoz are crazy high for the same price you could buy a 4wd kobota or JD with a bucket and a few others acc

Buy a used z930M John Deere dependable good power I personally own 2 of them and have on several occasions cut grass up to 6 feet tall I have also ran the deck into a light pole at 14 mph and it didn't damage anything and you can find used ones everywhere since they're some of the most popular commercial grade mowers

They tear the turf up. They claim it doesn't but I have seen these in action and if it isn't completely dry, it will tear turf. Especially those nice plush green yards where you can actually see the whole turf move when your wheels hit them from all the way, this will tear them up I've seen it happen.

I think it needs another mower deck option of 6ft path deck, that of a 72" deck ,unless I have to call them and talk to them people and see about getting a custom deck made, just my opinion

This can handle hills better then a dually ventrac/Wright zxt. Also almost impossible to get stuck. A dually Wright stander Zk could probably match an altoz but doesn’t have a brush cutting deck. The stand on Altoz beats all of those I just named, you could cut any hill any direction with the tracked stand on. And it’s cool as f**k lol

I watched a guy in a subdivision once with a Grasshopper IIRC. He quickly mowed a lawn, shouted some directions to the guys with a weed eater and leaf blower and took off down the road. Looked like that thing did 20 mph or more. Great if you have several lawns in the same neighborhood.
