Hey Jason, great review again. I will say I use his programs for some guidance on just having variety in my life. I’ve been running and lifting for a long time now and I believe these programs are not for beginners, obviously. You need to have that experience to know, ok I’m feeling a little taxed today maybe I’ll cut this out or drop a set here. Me personally I say F**** the GHD sit ups. They take forever and after 11 years in the marines I hate them and my body can’t handle it. This overkill mentality Nick has stems from his military background. The marines do dumb shit like this all the time and the higher-ups wonder why our medical facilities are filled with broken marines. I’m glad you are pointing out the problems with these programs. Much love and continue crushing it.

There’s another hybrid 1.0 program on their bpn app that I think is the more tame one they were talking about. It’s 3 lifts, 3 runs per week and overall less aggressive volume
@jasonbrowncoaching9 ай бұрын
I wish you were correct, but it's basically the same program: kzbin.info/www/bejne/f5-TnYOXdpmfsNE
@hookem39828 ай бұрын
Yeah the 1.0 isn't too bad in my opinion. I always just did the core work at the end instead of the beginning. Made more sense to me that way.

Hey Jason! Quick question: which program would you recommend to someone (me) who has been lifting (purely fitness hypertrophy) for 8 years and wants to try out a more hybrid approach while holding on to most of the build up muscle mass. Workouts preverably 4-5 days a week. Greetings

I ran his old program “Embrace the suck” about 6 years ago. And it’s doable but it runs you into the dirt. Very difficult. I think the only reason I was able to complete it was because I had a training partner and we’d force each other to stick with it and I was only 30 years old.

I tell you what, if I didn't sacrifice my body as much in my 20s/30s I doubt I'd have one issue today, but we do learn a lot through that shit!

Josh Bridges! Watched a video of him describing his programming "method" and I walked away more confused than before I watched it 😅

That's because there is no method. The method is pilling a bunch of shit together and calling it a program.

@jasonbrowncoaching6 ай бұрын
Spend time building your aerobic system (2-3 hours per week) and spend time training multiple qualities of strength with your big lifts as well as improving your weak links.

Nick Bare is an entertainer, a showman, not a strength or endurance coach. The "Hybrid" moniker alone brings me minor irritation because it's simply a modern repackaging of old school concurrent protocols. If you're primarily an endurance athlete Bare's methods will drive you into the ground, if you're primarily a strength athlete the volume of endurance work in his program will hinder both size and strength. If you're strictly a Hybrid, get on the juice.....you'll need it to survive. Now, for the purpose of balance, he and others who espouse hybrid have probably gotten a lot of people off the couch and moving. Well, unless you sustained an injury, then not so much.

I did it and lasted 7 days. I’m sure Nick would probably tell me I’m a pussy 😂 but to give you some history on my training I played professional rugby for 14 years. Our pre seasons were brutal but very science and position specific. This program is counterproductive to put it nicely. You could do the program but I think the “supplements” you need are not available at your local health store if you know what I mean.

@@jasonbrowncoaching all of his program is evidence based on research him an his partner do. He writes it weekly and on paper looks “low volume” (2x5-8, 3x6, 3x10) but has allowed me to reduce fatigue and generate high effort into my sets. Never trained like that previously pretty cool!

Yeah, just the 60 second rest for 5*85% max is ridiculous. If you can do it, it is because you have way underestimate your 1 rep max. Even at the novice level, it seems undoable. A true beginner would not know their one rep max and the volume on this program for just one day would kill them.

Is it only the big guys you review? And why is that? There are great coaches out there who could benefit from a spot light
@jasonbrowncoaching9 ай бұрын
That’s correct. The reviews of smaller programs (I’ve done quite a few here) get absolutely no views and these videos are quite expensive to create and time consuming so we have to be a bit more strategic with what I review. I’d also argue that those coaches have the same opportunities that anyone else has such as submitting articles to big name websites, creating their own long form video content, and more - which is what I recommend to any new coaches (it takes a while though and most won’t see a return for years)

I cannot stand Nick Bare. When I was active duty, I saw Marines run a variation of this program and watched their run times get worse, were overtrained, and they ended up with injuries. He’s been lieing through his teeth for years and hides behind his military service when people call him out. He’s a charlatan, and a grifter of the highest order.
