FYI you can do a AKL job on mercedes with SmartPro ,you just need the AKL kit from advanced diagnostics:)

i use keytool for mercedes but only for adding key if it's old vehicle it will not do it by obd needs removing eis, you can do it on bench with keytool but i would recommend the adapters otherwise it's 2 hours to calculate password, so for all key lost i use autel, i don't have smart pro i know it has some benefits but it has less vehicle coverage in terms of latest vehicles for the price it costs

@ im508 it's ok but the im608 can do more in terms of diagnostics, like program some modules but key wise same thing

Different machines for different makes of vehicle. Mercedes you want xhorse or CGDI MB tool

@@minejak1921i have a negative experience with CGDI unless my tool is defective. Cannot do anything by obd besides reading EIS. Calculation fails all the time by obd and seems more like a bench only tool for me. Aftersale support and tech support that they call engineers are not helpful at all; indeed, after they take days to review a concern or issue, they get back with “ if it does not work by obd, just do it on bench”!! Really? But you said in the coverage that specific models can be done by obd? Why now tell me to do not t on bench? All the benz all keys lost i have had, i have completed them successfully with IM508 xp400 pro and Gbox2 with calculation times not exceeding 20mn with a hotspot connexion. I dont know about you but for me CGDI is TRASH & i purchased all the EIS cable for testing EIS and ESL I also have VVDI MB but their support is good. I have not been able to calculate password by obd too though (i had 1 year unlimited password calculation ending next month) so it seems it is good for bench also if all keys lost. However, support is better. I remember my vvdi prog was bad, i shipped it to china, they repaired it and shipped it back to me.

But you completely fail to mention it in the video & the smart pro app you showed it doesn’t do AKL on a Mercedes when it does. They all lie / have incorrect info in some cases. Also for anyone wondering the smart pro app you can get for around £5 month without owning their tool. It’s really useful and a must for someone starting up

i've done loads of vitos with autel all key lost, you need to remove the eis and connect gbox on bench, you can do it on vehicle but you need to short the ESL but i find it easier to remove eis the then unplug esl and also gbox reduces the calculating time for the password

You can see vehicle coverage for SMARTPRO after you bought and register tool in your MyKeys account :)... AUTEL coverage is free to see. Dont know how XHORSE works I dont use it

i dont think that you need specific key for specific machine . i have vvdi tool and i just buy keys on aliexpress and they work and i program them to mercedes keys. any of those keys should work with any of those 3 machines as long as its bga key .

We're not talking about me and my skills we are talking about beginners and even if we proceed to the next menu it's still not clear if it can be done or not. Ideally we don't have to load the tool up at all and we use tools like Smart Pro where we can get the information quickly on our phones via the website/app.

I have autel 508s and xp 400 pro. It is great tool for beginers. Usualy work with EU cars up to 2015. Never fail for 6 months :)
