Ah, this sure brings me back. Back in the days before that song got released they were doing the Making Of of the new album and they were releasing an episode each week or so i think. This song was the first they showed us.

The chorus is better in the final version in the matter of lyrics, there is an extra "don't say I didn't try, I'd rather not live here anymooooreeeeee!!!" and that's badass, but the sound of the voice is much better in this version

I absolutely love In Flames. I lve all their music... from all the years, no matter how much they've changed. I don't think In Flames could ever be shit. I think it's a shame that all the old fans don't like their new music :/
@tritriren13 жыл бұрын
This version comes from a Viva la bam compilation or something like that. It was an unfinished version of the song teasing what was upcoming on A Sense of Purpose. I still think this version is definitly a killer track, especially with the chorus and the trigger-like solo !

You got a point, throughout In Flames' songs, lyricks always had an important part. But before, they were mostly used as ''another instrument''. Now, I feel they are much more distinct. When I listen to Old IF's lyricks, I see art, so it's possible for them to combine words and sounds into masterpieces of melodeath.
@unklebidii8 жыл бұрын
I miss In Flames
@MihaZ16 жыл бұрын
Old Flamers don't cry about lyricks, since they always sounded like poetry and were really deep sometimes, unlike the common metal band. Though you can say you didn't like Ander's old singing style, some like it, some don't. I personally like it hehe. But hey, I understand it's their music and all, I'm not their manager nor their mom, but as I fan, I discovered talent musician who brought a completely new way to view metal, and it was inspiring, some of their songs are very powerful.

Reroute to remain was an experiment, too - and I loved it. I don't say that the only great albums were Clayman and Colony; I just say that theit QUALITY is way better than the new ones (e.g. Soundtrack to your escape). By the way, I think Lunar Strain was quite strange, too... :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought they picked up Anders and made Jester Race and have had him ever since. @MihaZ16 жыл бұрын
Obviously my statement wasn't about the singer or lyrics. If someone prefers their new singing style, I can't argue with that, it's all about taste. But the quality of their songs went down compared to pre 2002 stuff. Their old songs had MUCH more creativity involved, alot of acoustic work also. It's not being close-minded, it's being realistic. Same thing happened to many great bands already, and it will keep happening. You arent dumb, perhaps a bit too fan-core to see my point.

Even if they have becomse more commercial i personally feel their later songs are better than the earlier stuff, its more "understandabe"IMO and the mix of screamo with melodic metal is a very fine combination. In Flames used to be known as a group of very intelligent musicians, often mixing acoustic and metal, melodies. Melodeath, which was completely new in the 90s. They stopped to improve that playstyle, and went for more a more common sound. As for intelligent musicians now, I think Opeth wins something.
