Have always respected and enjoyed Yanis' speeches for their intelligent and intellectual contents. Alas, for all his wisdom and political experiences though, his knowledge of China has proven to be somewhat deficient. As a Chinese born in Hong Kong who have spent fifteen years living in the Western world and currently residing in Hong Kong, I can honestly say that while China still has a lot of room to improve on both the social and political front, it is nothing like what Yanis (or his friends) has described it to be. I would suggest that Yanis (this applies to all foreigners too) spend more time visiting China and seeing China for himself instead of relying on third party recounts which could be distorted/subjective despite the best of intentions.

Why is Russia’s response not justified when they had long declared their red line and the U.S. had financed the overthrow of a democratically elected Ukrainian government committed to NATO neutrality?
