After a divorce.. My father came to help clean the house.... When he noticed my pile of 5 flags in the corner of my garage.... He asked " What the hell is this?".... I explained how the flags had faded but I could not disposed of them..... He said " Well .. I'm a Veteran and as long as we do it with Respect".... So he went to the BBQ Pit... Lit a fire... And one at a time, 😔 🇺🇸 He said a prayer, Saluted, and placed each flag on to the flames. 😢🇺🇸

@@theredmonkey236 hopefully teach history, then they can teach all the made up fake shit in that video. He doesn’t even get the name of the fort right. Or the facts of the battle. Or the location of the citizens. Or the amount of ships. Or the reason Key was there. Or the location of prisoners. Or the fact we weren’t colonies in 1812. Or hell, anything in the video. It’s an insanely dumb video and I think you need to learn your history if you think it’s even close to accurate.

@@chrisgarris7249 So true! It's important to know the difference but too many people these days only think of those holidays as a long weekend of BBQ and beer (nothing wrong with either IMO). I have the ONLY *real* flagpole in my neighborhood! It is lit at night and until August 24th of 2015 it had TWO flags in it: The American flag and the POW/MIA flag. The pole is set in 100# of concrete. The reason I took the POW/MIA flag off that night was because he passed away that day. At the age of 93. One week after his Birthday. The reason the POW/MIA flag was there is that Pop was a WWII vet. He landed on Omaha Beach a week or so after D-Day (something about his troop ship being delayed or he'd have been in the thick of it). Got through France and into Germany. Battle of the Bulge, one of 60 that survived from his Division. Got a little too far into Germany and was captured. Spent 97 days in a POW camp after a 15 day forced march. He made it back. Too many didn't. All gave some. Some gave all...

I’m from Denmark, and I choked up too… a few years before those events, in 1807, the British fire bombed our capital, Copenhagen, same story, if you lower your flag, we know you have surrendered, yet after 6 days of bombing, when the commandant had lowered our flag, and went to negotiate the surrender, the British said that the bombing would continue till we surrendered our fleet…. So I can say, with absolute certainty that had the Fort lowered the flag, they would just have been met with other demands.

Brayden that is truly a wonderful thing. I've actually heard this version before and it still makes me shiver when I hear it again. People these days just don't seem to understand that freedom isn't free. It is bought and paid for with the blood of our warriors and should never EVER be forgotten! I hope this gets viewed a million times or more as it is special. More special than folks will possibly admit. And for all those vets out there from a retired vet here, I wish you all a great and wonderful Memorial Day. Keep up the faith brothers and sisters! We must never back down.

I swear the hair on my arms stood up. It reminded me of my pop, his brother was killed at pearl, my pop, Joseph joined the Navy , attached to the Marines , he was on the first ship in the sea of Japan, at one point they struck a Mine, Joe and 3 shipmates were in the engine room when it sank as it went down a hatch blue open the air pressure blew those 4 men out , they were the only survivors. Joe would later serve on a second mine sweeper, he was in the landing party 2 weeks after the dropped the bombs that ended the war! Those accounts he shared with me send shivers through my soul. From this day forward My motto will be “Id rather die on my feet fighting than live on my knees”Thank you immensely Braiden for sharing this!

That rendition not only gave me goosebumps, it also made me cry thinking of all the men and women who never had a chance to come home from whatever war and live a life of peace. God Bless all the soldiers past, present and future who will sacrifice for this country and God Bless America.

I'm an Air Force veteran. My 21 year old son is a U.S. Marine, who picked up little American flags from cemeteries when he was 11 years old, because it pissed him off so much to see them on the ground. I've watched this religiously, repeatedly, over the last few years. I cry every time. God bless you! God bless America!!

I am a Retired US Army Combat Veteran who served this nation for 22 years of my life in support and defense of our country, our Constitutional Rights and our Nation's Colors. Thank you for sharing this video. If the day comes where I and other Veterans need to once again put our lives on the line to support and defend the Constitution, our country and our countries colors. Like many other veterans, my oath is as strong today as it was the first day I raised my right hand and recited the oath. If it comes to where I have to lay down my life to make sure that our Constitutional Rights, Constitution and our Nation's Colors, I will stand by my brothers and sisters in arms and defend our nation.
