I believe this is pretty much the standard in every country. You dont have to, but it will alwayd be a great advantage for landing that first job. After that experience is everything

Except that the local market is desperate and will take people with 0 actual experience (never written a line of code in their life, dropouts and hairstylists etc) and then just train them up over a few months lol.

In my country they do the exact opposite. They require a lot of degrees, especially in the public sector. They believe that those who have many degrees have skills. Sooner or later they see the mistake and the wasted time.

Interesting! I will move to Japan as a student (language school) but I do have just over 5 years experience in software development. From what I've heard, even tho you might not need a CS degree , because I have no degree (I finished an apprenticeship in the UK) I need to take the ITPEC FE or AP exam to qualify for the working visa. @@hwolfART you can take the ITPEC in Japan but it's only in Japanese. You can also take a course and skip the theory and have only the programming questions.

@@adriannica1566 appreciate the answer mate, btw the course need tobe japanese accredited or isit same for any foreign course even free ones, include self paced too ? Im still beginner w 1 yoe in IT now still grinding + doing anki, hopefully in a year ill be ready to take N2 (im still n4 now).also I heard data center tech jobs needs ppl over there, which ill be aiming first probably..

You don’t need a cs or computer degrees in the west to become a software engineer. Times have changed a lot. Just requires you to problem solving and communication skills

@@kei_tokyo_japan yeah my ex gf (japanese) just got 2 offers as an IT engineer, she has no computer science degree and no skills in programming or IT. Japan market is really desperate for engineers its the opposite of the west.

Some companies want to hire foreign people, you should find that kinda companies. But from uk, your salary could go down.

First, come to Japan as a student. Then make relationships with Japanese IT guys. Finally, you should get practical skills.
