This is a very beautiful song, very romantic, but at the same time it has a nuance of sadness and melancholy, and how about the astonishing lead vocal, then the harmonies of the girls and finally the boys also joined in chorus, everything is simply magical. I can see you really enjoyed this song, maybe more than the others ☺

Frida has many wonderful lead vocals displaying the warmth and softness in her voice: Super Trouper, Knowing Me Knowing You, I Have a Dream, One Man One Woman, and The Name of the Game (where she shares lead vocals with Agnetha, a song that really highlights the different qualities of their voices). However, I also love her irony and humour in Money Money Money, and her desperation and pain in When All Is Said and Done and - my ABBA favorite: The Visitors.

I read once that their sound engineer told how he actually created the '3rd voice' by delaying one of the voices on the board for a split second to make a richer, fuller sound- considering that he had 2 of the most beautifully similar & blendable voices ever to work with, I think he created perfection!!

so happy to see you again with ABBA songs "Fernando" (1976) is a soft ballad, so nice and beautiful The best is the beauty of their vocal harmonies, very soft at the whisper level but at a level of perfection, that explodes in a magic chorus I have compared it to "Chiquitita" (1979) because both songs have similarities and contrasts Both have the title in Spanish, and was recorded in spanish too (to the album in spanish "Gracias por la Música" In 1980) Both are pop ballads with an initial verse sung alone and from the second chorus in duet, with a very catchy and popular chorus (in my country Argentina are songs that we would sing in a circle of friends, because we all know their lyrics) The two videos show the contrast of fire and snow, night and day They were both very most worldwide successful, only behind "Dancing Queen" ABBA had already recorded "Dancing Queen" and it came from the success of "Mamma Mía" It was the manager who convinced them to record "Fernando" so as not to repeat the style (Frida had done it before in 1975 on her solo album in Swedish and it was a success, but with lyrics of a lovesong, and these to ABBA is a friendship story about mexican soldiers) The manager was right and everything was a success, one after another in that year 1976, with three singles #1 consecutives in UK Mamma Mía (2 weeks) Fernando (4 weeks) Dancing Queen (6 weeks) In addition, this variety of options had different results in each country. "Fernando" was a colossal success in Australia (14 weeks at #1 surpassed the "Hey Jude" mark) and 7 weeks at #1 in Germany "Dancing Queen" was 14 weeks #1 in Sweden and 6 weeks #1 in the U.K.and 8 weeks #1 in Australia Both were #1 in the U.S. but in various rankings: "Dancing Queen" on the Billboard and "Fernando" on Adult Contemporary The official video of "Fernando" was filmed in February 1976, with Dancing Queen the next day in these Official Video you could see: Bjorn & Benny, both in guitars Frida & Agnetha confronted both in frontal and profile images (repeating "Mamma Mia" technique used) premiering her gypsy style dress and a last comparation "Fernando" (1976) is first ABBA single with Frida in lead voice, and recorded in her solo album in Swedish (released before ABBA) as "S.O.S." (1975) is first ABBA single with Agnetha in lead voice, and recorded in her solo album in Swedish (released after ABBA) For a next reaction, my suggestion is "Chiquitita" (1979), another banger and worldwide hit to ABBA and first song released by ABBA in spanish too, biggest ABBA worldwide hit in Latin America Thanks so much for these video and reaction I wish you a great weekend See you in the next My best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America

You can't really compare charts of yesteryear with streaming charts. They use totally different methods to correlate their positions. Imagine today's kids paying something like $10+ in today's money for just one single like in the past. They pay next to nothing for a song in a subscription now . Make 'em pay $10 for one song today like we did in the past? Artists today would sell next to nothing.

@@The_Jupiter2_Mission Oh no doubt about it!I'm totally with you.I read that there's some streaming platform that only the 30 first seconds of a streamed song counts as a 'sale' even if the listener doesn't continue listening.Record sales in the 'analogue' era were solid choicesDifferent value. We were getting out of our houses' traveling' to the record shops to buy an album or a single we usually had 'aimed' after a conscious decision also 'willingly' paying some good money.

Love the way you're loving Abba. It's nearly impossible to hear this song and not sing along with that chorus. Just another Abba chorus that so cleverly hooks you right in. Agnetha had said that this was one her favorite song because the way it always had the audience singing along with the most. Songs I know you will like: Eagle (from the Album). Lay all Your Love on Me (from Super Trouper--get ready to boogie). The Visitors (from, yes, The Visitor). Just to name a few. Love your enthusiasm Luke.

A clear indication it was the end. Then I was so happy when Frida came out with Somethings going on. The single was a big hit in America. Then Agnetha came out with Wrap Your Arms Around me. Loved I Can't Shake Loose. Then One Night in Bangkok, from Chess. Then we get Mamma Mia, the musical; then the movie. Then we finally get Voyage. We'll, we all know the history. @@craignotgreg547 I think that Agnetha's answer (and Benny's) must be seen in context ABBA promoted their album "The singles" and they said four different songs with that objective Frida and Björn's answers were obvious, that's why Agnetha perhaps says "my choice is Fernando" when we know that her favorite is "The winner takes it all" (she thus avoids repetition and public coincidence with Her ex-husband). and Benny we know that he has praised "Knowing me knowing you" a lot finally there are three of the four best-selling songs of ABBA (the fourth is Waterloo, in the place of The winner takes it all)

Abba had the little trick of the two girls singing at 90 degree angles as a change from the two of them facing out into the camera. It became kind of a trademark for them.
