I first heard it when I was 30. I’d heard several of the songs on the radio growing up, but for some reason they never made much of an impression on me. Yes, it's "Frida" - and, may I say: I'm SO GLAD you've finally got into some of the Frida-led tracks. Don't get me wrong, ABBA is my favourite band of all time and I absolutely adore Agnetha, but Frida was always slightly less recognised than Agnetha, despite her being the lead on so many of their hits and a key part of that "third voice" they both created together. Great to see a contemporary reactor acknowledging the pure power of Frida's vocals. ABBA is the one band where you can't rank any single member ahead of the others: they're all absolutely integral to that uniquely rare wall of sound.

I love ABBA! My late husband was a tattooed biker type man who looked rough but had the heart of a teddy bear. He was my best friend and partner for 23 years until his passing. ABBA was his favorite band and he traveled to many European countries to see them live in concert. He said that they were the best concerts he had ever been to, surpassing all the great bands from the 70's including Janice Joplin. He was a true ABBA fan and so am I! Thanks for another great reaction video!

There are about 8 exceptional Frida leads you haven't done yet. Of course all her leads are great. Her ability to go from ballad to lullaby to show tune is incredible. After abba she rocked Fire and Ice in a show she hosted. There is nothing she can't do. She was and is one of the best vocalists to walk the planet. And then there is Agnetha wonderful in a different way. How lucky that fate put them together and that they had voices which were not only word class but blended they way they did.

This is my favourite ABBA song, and there is some major competition in that back catalogue. Despite the fact this was a huge hit on its release, as you highlighted from the Wikipedia entry, I *do* agree its underrated - when you consider how much attention "Waterloo" and "Dancing Queen" still get to this day, "Super Trouper" should get far more recognition in the present day for being just a sublime piece of pop music mastery. I can never hear "Super Trouper" without getting a warn feeling all over, and being taken back to that nostalgic time when I was a preteen and also remembering that this was one of my mother's favourite songs back then. I didn't appreciate it as much then, but since I grew into adulthood and got past the scepticism about ABBA that many here in the UK had during the late 80s and early 90s (when the band were seen by the young and by music industry snobs as 'cheesy') and finally began to appreciate the musicality and craft, this has grown to be one of my favourite songs of that period.

When this song came out in 1980 - I wore it out. I remember declaring "I'm hearing the future!" This song is a master class - and then, the 2nd song on this Album is "The Winner Takes it All " Need i say more. Frida and Agnetha's voices are otherworldly. I love your raw reactions. It's so great to see the younger generation experience the ABBA phenomenon. And mind you, back in the day - the "music establishment "panned ABBA - icluding Rolling Stone Magazine. They (the establishment) were so out of touch. Another Frida classic I recommend is "Fernando!" - you'll be lifted.

I can't stop going back and rewatching all of Salvos ABBA reactions. It makes me so happy - did it yesterday and doing it again today. I need more lol. I love seeing the joy and excitement of people reacting to them and their catchy tunes (I do it also with BeeGees and Queen reactions too). Please do more ABBA reactions. Another great track on this album is "Andante, Andante". It wasn't a huge hit, I'm not even sure if it was released as a single, but I used to play it over and over again as a kid, and it would always put a lump in my throat every single time I listened to it for some reason. Still not exactly sure why. Those beautiful vocals with the guitar hypnotised me...

It is really nice to see a reactor do his own research and not asking viewers to educate them. Bonus points for you. ABBA Agnetha, Bjorn, Benny, Anni-Frid (AKA Frida) the FRID is like freed, like Frida. The magnificence of their talent is beyond words and then the 3rd voice coming out of the two women is unheard of. it doesn't hurt anyone to look at them. Two magnificent looking women with kind hearts and decent souls. If you read about Frida's life you will cry for her but admire her strength. She has been through hell many times.

Such a good song. Huge in many countries. Went nowhere in others. What I like about ABBA is that they knew how to use synths. They werent children with a new toy - having synth dominate their sound like so many acts of that period did. They were truly pioneers of synth.

Great reaction! Super Trouper is one of my favourites too. Also on this album is one of ABBA's lesser known songs, Andante Andante, which is my all time ABBA favourite (hint). Actually, there are loads of great tracks on this album. ABBA was one of those bands that just kept getting better and more mature.

Great reaction Salvo!! I've loved this album as long as I can remember (came out in 1980, I was born in '78 - my parents played this one often!!) The whole album plays like a 'greatest hits' collection - there is that many great songs on it!! Highly recommend: Lay Your Love On Me, The Piper, Our Last Summer, Andante Andante... (you already did The Winner Takes It All) - The Piper has been my #1 forever...it's a bit 'darker' than many of the popular ABBA songs! Cheers!

They did this live in 81 on Dick Cavett meets ABBA. Very small backup band and singers. It's amazing. Every bit as good as the studio version. Those girls could drop into perfect ABBA harmony at the drop of a hat. The clip or the whole little mini concert is on YT and will blow your mind. BTW Bjorn wrote these lyrics while on their last tour in 79 about the wife after Agnetha. At the time of the Dick Cavett concert both couples had broken up. The girls stick tight together and apart from the guy's.

Since you love ABBA , Bee Gees and Disco/Electronic dance music, i think its time you listened/reacted to Donna Summer. She is known as the Queen of Disco (and Dance Music) and was a huge ICON in the 70's and 80's.. She had 32 Billboard top 40 hits and 14 top 10 songs. Suggest to start with I Feel Love, Enough is Enough, Last Dance, Hot Stuff, Bad Girls, MacArthur Park. She Works Hard For The Money , On the Radio and Love To Love You Baby. to get you started. An Amazing woman with an Amazing voice who changed the face of Music in the 70's. She has millions of fans worldwide!!

This was the first song I heard from ABBA, and also was the same time I saw something called CD for the first time which has music and rainbow in a disc. You can't imagine the thrill and excitement it brought to me when I was a teenager. I had never heard something like this before, I was so enchanted! This song still remains my number 1 favorite song of ABBA.

Hi Sal, I just saw that Mamma Mia! will be at the Fisher Theatre in Detroit April 23 - 28. I saw it several years ago with a group of friends and we had a blast. People were dancing in the aisles. If you like ABBA, I highly recommend that you should go.

Perfect reaction and as probably most ABBA fans would concur, I have your sort of reaction every time I hear this song. Maybe not outwardly with others around, but, internally totally getting into each and every moment of this perfect slice of pop bliss, and when I do listen on my own I usually can’t resist and have to join in with the “su-pa-pah, tru-pa-pah”. So glad you appreciate ABBA and the way Benny and Bjorn were (are) true architects of music design and construction who managed to build so many gorgeous structures of song utilizing the tools of melody, harmony, irresistible hooks, clever lyrics and technical prowess when it came to the art of studio production. There is a reason ABBA is probably more known today than at the height of their commercial success in the 70s and 80s and it’s due to the timeless quality of their music which will never sound dated. ❤ABBA❤

I've mentioned before, there is of course the Mamma Mia musical that has ABBA songs. However, there is also the musical CHESS by Benny, Bjorn and Tim Rice(Evita, Jesus Christ Superstar). One of the popularized songs from it is "One Night in Bangkok". There is a recording of "Chess in Concert" from PBS I believe that has Josh Groban, Adam Pascal (RENT), Idina Menzel (RENT & Frozen) -- very very great performance. :)
