What really hooked me in Berserk was the incredible writing and bold choices for its characters and story. It was never easy for Guts, yet he kept struggling, again and again. I think It's a message that resonate with many people. Keep strugling. Farewell Guts, Griffith and Casca and thank you, Kentaro Miura, for everything ! I love how Susumu Hirasawa's original OST for the 1997 anime has become synonymous with Berserk as a whole. It fits its melancholy so perfectly. And Miura was a huge fan of his works. He apparently personally asked Hirasawa to create the music for the anime.

My favorite fictional “hero” character. Though he may be a huge musclebound figure who carries a massive sword and slays many foes, the path he walks is a tortured and tragic one. And Susumu Hirasawa’s theme for Guts is not a heavy metal song befitting such a physical description .. but a meditative look inwards. A lamentful yet hopeful melody that freezes you in time. It’s piece of music that reassures you that it’s ok to cry, as long as you pick yourself up again. You’ll walk again, soon. Thank you Kentaro Miura, for everything.

I cried as well. I didn’t even know why at first. Then flashbacks of my brother and I going into this dude’s house where he had like an illegal video store consisting of just animes 😂 and he recommended berserk came to me. Never looked back after that, I was about 13 I finished the anime not knowing about the manga at the time, a few years later someone told me about it and I read all that was written at the time. I’ve always had a hard time in life and as silly as it may sound to others, characters like Guts actually taught me that struggling is part of life, you just never give up. I didn't find Berserk at the "perfect" time. It didn't "save" my life (at least not directly). I haven't even been a fan for that long. It's only really been two years. But even in that short time, Berserk became something incredibly and profoundly special to me. Stories like Berserk don't have to really "change your life", because to me, stories like Berserk are my life. I found parts of myself I never knew existed in the pages of Kentaro Miura's masterpiece. It might not have lifted me up from some deep dark place in my life, but it sure as hell helped me deal with them. Even when I wasn't thinking about it, Guts' impossible struggle against fate never ever stopped inspiring me. Whenever the world seemed as cold and unforgiving as the decrepit towns of Midland, I found my light and my warmth in the precious hope hidden within Berserk. I will never really be able to express with words how much Miura and his work meant to me, so I guess I'll have to settle for this: Thank you so much, Miura sensei. For helping me to live.

In my personal opinion life shouldn't be a miserable struggle (unless your life is THAT tragic). In the end, struggling is all I don't want to be. It takes a great deal of strength and bravery towards yourself, but you can live happily with your suffering that's continuous and immaculate but so is your happiness. That way, your tragedies or struggles don't break you in half. Most of the time they don't even feel like obstacles, more like steps in a walk. I just want to experience that again. I've got a million to choose from A million ways things could be In dull moments I feel like There's a million options I see The trouble is choosing one The trouble is doing one A slave in the fields one night He's running along Gets far enough to be a free man And he's feeling so strong That's how actions should be Freeing Step after step is our only choice in a walk

Berserk has always been to me about how the world struggles against you existing. As a direct actor and at its worst, the world wants you to disappear. Even at its best it wants to adhere to the lowest form of living which is simply floating along the narrow line of destiny. People that tend towards greatness fight it their entire lives no matter how hard the world attempts to erase you. I think, in a sense, Kentaro Miura defeated the demons he made for his world. In a world that wants you to be forgotten, the fire of his existence lives on.

This is easily the best cover of this song that has been made. The changes are subtle and only add to feeling of the song. There are too many covers I’ve heard on where they have changed the main vocal line to a guitar and it just loses the emotion. But your use of the shamisen (I think that’s what it is, I’m not entirely certain) adds a beauty to the song not heard before. Thank you for this truly amazing cover and may Miuras’ struggle become our own. Edit: The instrument is a kokyū. My mistake.

The only thing that hits harder than Berserk is Guts' theme. This song stuns me to my core and makes me feel like I'm reliving a memory.

It really goes to show how much love the community has, seeing this video is nearly 200k view and is only at 61 dislikes as I post this. Now who could dislike art like this... i dont know.. The passing of Miura hit the manga/anime community hard. There was even a vigil in FF14 online. Its moments like that that help me see that humanity hasnt failed entirely, and gibes me hope for a bright future..

The authentic and legendary aura surrounding Miura made his passing something else... I was deeply affected when I've heard the news... went straight back at the studio and produced this song right away after.

Hands down, the best version of the track I've heard. You've captured the essence of this song, but also the passion of its old creators, and the soul of berserk wonderfully. Bravo. You've earned my sub and like.

I felt my heart drop when I learned that he passed, but I feel that we don't simply move on. We go through our lives along the way we become part of someone's heart in some way, though he is no longer in this world he will live on in our memories and hearts.

Omg, this is so beautiful and powerful, can really feel the soul and heart in this. Thank you so much. R.I.P Kentaro Miura, you inspired Susumu Hirasawa to write this for your work. It's been a fun journey, and the struggle will continue, but I know we will all succeed with the take on life that you've given all of us, Im happy that you will be watching over us. You and everything you've done, will never be forgotten. This is just so beautiful, and it hits so hard. Thank you again for this beautiful piece.

Berserk was a huge staple of my angry and confused youth. It was a tale of struggling against adversity, and learning painful lessons on the road of life. As you live things will take huge chunks out of you, but what matters is that you keep fighting and keep going. Even when it's hopeless, even when it hurts. Those hard lessons are my brand of sacrifice, and I will always carry it. Thank you, Mr. Miura.

The sky is Miura Sensi's pages now....a legend has passed but his legacy in Berserk will be forever. Every time whether it's the Manga we read or Anime we watch...whether the story is over or continues from his assistant's Miura will live forever in our minds and hearts. Guts, Griffith/Femto, Casca, Pippin, Puck, Shereke, the rest of the Hawk, The God hand, Nosferatu Zodd. Whichever character you love, you root for Miura made us feel for these characters...maybe it's was disgust and hatred for Griffiths betrayal to Guts and violation of Casca, maybe it was bravery in Guts never giving into fate no matter what....in the end Miura captured our hearts and imagination. He made us all family and united us through his story. We will See Miura again and when we do, the story of Berserk will be complete and we will have our ending.
