This one left me totally bereft , as if I had just attended a funeral of many long-time friends. The soft music (VERY appropriate, I might add) played a very big role in that feeling. These are EXCELLENT videos - well presented and very respectful !

Sammy Davis Jr. passing away at age 64 was completely unexpected. Jim Henson’s death was so unexpected also as he had more to give regarding the Muppets. So was Stevie Ray Vaughn’s death as he had been considered by many folks as one of the all time great guitarists of his generation.

Late 1950s and 1960s all way to early to even mid 1990s were bad when lost so many of golden age Hollywood. 1960s lost Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Gary Cooper, Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, Montgomery Clift, Jayne Mansfield all between 1960-1967. 1970s lost John Wayne, Charlie Chaplin, Moe Howard and Larry Fine of The 3 Stooges, among so many others before and after the 1970s when lost James Stewart and Robert Mitchum in 1997 and Gregory Peck in 2003 and even comedy legends Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in 2000 and 2001 we lost so many of golden age of Hollywood by then.

Sammy Davis jr was a legendary dancer, singer, and actor. And his death hit many of Us hard as we wish that he could have lasted a lot longer than 64 years. Sinatra saw Sammy as a little brother, and it angered him something fierce in the early 60s where Sammy was permitted to perform at certain Las Vegas hotels, but prohibited from staying in them because of his skin color. Frank and Sammy were able to convince many of the hotel owners that in a town like Vegas , the only color that should matter is green. They agreed and desegregated Vegas. In an interview many years later Frank Jr, proud of what his father had done, said that 20th century prejudice has no place in the 21st century except in the history books.
