I am an average person in America, and I am here to tell you that music does transcend borders. I have enjoyed listening to the musical talent of the Red Army Choir for years. To their families, I hope they know that they were more than a choir. They were Russian cultural ambassadors. Through their performances they showed that bridges between people and cultures can be built. Yes, they primarily sung Russian songs. But they also sung The Star Spangled Banner, America the beautiful and yes, even Jingle Bells! But it was more than those songs. They sung every song from their hearts as they loved music and it showed. People around the world got a taste of Russia through their service, and they will be missed around the world not just in Russia. I, with all lovers of music, are very sadden at the loss.
