I think in some ways we underestimate the power and message this song conveys Despite abuse and cruelty; she stays kind. That she uses what skills and mental capacity she has to escape her predicament and stay alive until better times come along. That takes grit and determination.

Well, today Prince Charming died at the age of 84 so here I am revisiting the musical at the age of 68 (in August) and this was a favorite song from the show. I also had to hear the step sister's lament. This is one of my favorite memories from that period of time.

Awwww, I remember this like it were yesterday. I was 5 years old. I feel so blessed to have been a little girl then and an adolescent in the 70’s. Wonderful times. This was my favorite show that I looked so forward to watching every year as a little girl. I’m 64 now. I’m sitting in my apartment, in my corner, in my recliner (my own lol), wondering what is going to happen next in this world and this song came into my thoughts. So beautiful and timeless, just as she is. I remember later on, she dated Paul Stanley, who ended up being a family friend.😊Life is so strange and unpredictable. I think everything will be ok. I pray that it will.🙏❤️

I’m 36 and I loved this version as a child. I just thought of this movie and this song. The words mean differently now. In my own little corner, is my time with Jesus. Being lost, and found by the lion, the king. I seen him in the clouds a couple years back. Having marriage issues, and I kept saying I don’t want a godless marriage. And I seen him with his arms out. A quick second. I looked down to grab my phone for a picture to look back on, but was gone. It’s still vivid in my mind. I know what I saw. I wasn’t saved at the time. But I distanced from a lot. Friends, family, social media. And started reading the Bible, searching god. I’ve not been the same since that day. I got baptized last year, going to church more often, praying with my kids. I got a fight or flight feeling the end of 2019 right before COVID. I’ve had dreams of slaying giants, and a dragon. 7visions, a Phoenix, eclipse or red moon, Statue of Liberty, Star of David, scales, a vision of going up these gold escalators stairs that were golden sunflowers along the side, and lastly while breastfeeding my baby at the time, a vision of a scroll being opened. All these before I started to read the Bible again. Was even more amazed after reading samuel, revelation and understanding we are in the times Timothy 2 describes. Even so come. Believe in your heart Jesus died for your sins, and rose again. Be humble and of a changed mind, and heart. Do not be confound to this world, and think bigger, of eternity. What truly matters. Praying that every heart turns to the one and only true way.

In this version, Cinderella (played by Lesley Ann Warren) sings "In My Own Little Corner" when her wicked stepmother (played by Jo Van Fleet) is furious that she disobeyed her and opened the door to strangers while she and her wicked stepsisters (Pat Carroll and Barbara Ruick) were away that she punishes her for it by sending her to her corner until she's called.

Sad as I am, I find some solace in this song. Though I find it ironic if not depressing that I have had to sing this song to myself since I was about eight. Right, right, somebody will tell me, "you brought on yourself". Yes, I am a coward, it was the only way to survive, my only achievement and that is very questionable as to its worth.

Brandi had the sass, attitude, and flair. Julie had gracefulness and glamor, and Leslie has the folk/ fairy tale vibe, and the best portrayal of a young lady confused and overwhelmed in the situation. But each version was show casting a different take. I’m not the biggest fan of Leslie’s voice, but her acting is great, and she plays the stereotypical Cinderella role (mild/meek/etc.) the best. It depends on what you want out of the show.

When it comes to childhood nostalgia, that doesn’t matter much. She could sound like utter shit and I’d still prefer Leslie Ann Warren.
