@31Alden My dear, I send my condolences to you in this time of grief. My beloved mother passed away 3 years ago & insisted this piece for her funeral when we were preparing services a year before. At the funeral it was sung very slowly by a tenor with the most angelic voice. I hope you receive comfort in this piece by Faure as it did to me. I will pray for your brother Jim & also for you as you go through this difficult time. God bless you my dear.
@31Alden3 ай бұрын
@@solarmax11 How very kind of you to respond to my comment. Thank you. The service for your mother with this moving piece performed slowly by a tenor sounds wonderful with a lot of thought and care invested in it. You fulfilled her wish and gave her a wonderful send off via Faure’s exquisite composition. As you noted, this piece comforts me and smooths the rough edges of my grief which is profound. I’ve buried both of my parents, but never a beloved sibling which changes the playing field altogether as we came from the same “tribe” if you will. I deeply appreciate your prayers for my beloved Jim who will be laid to rest on September 26th with his sister standing at his grave in reverence, respect and great love. Again … thank you. PS: I had the pleasure of visiting Winchester Cathedral in 2000 during which time the organist was practicing for a wedding later that day. The cathedral was filled with wedding flowers, the white runner in the center aisle was in place, I wished I could have stayed for the wedding! I’ve visited and been inside many beautiful cathedrals, but Winchester Cathedral ranks as my favorite for its beauty and rich history.
